Derangements in monoaminergic transmission in the substantia nigra with disturbed signaling in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis are the major characteristics of Parkinson's disease (PD). It has been reported that the administration of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is in practice to treat PD because of its redundant nature in regulating various neuronal signals. Hence, the current investigation was performed to evaluate the hypothesis that H2S might exert protective action via the inhibition of epigenetic histone acetylation. ⋯ Diversely, H2S exposure reversed these alterations with reduced HDAC activity. Further, PD rats treated with HDAC inhibitor showed a dramatic upsurge in the level of tyrosine hydroxylase, with a decreased level of glial fibrillary acidic protein, α-synuclein, tumor necrosis factor α, and other cytokines. Thus the results of the study suggest that H2S exerts protection via inhibition of HDAC.

Hyperlipidemia refers to a group of lipid metabolism disorders characterized by increased levels of total cholesterol, triglyceride, and/or low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and/or decreased levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. This study aims to investigate the effects of Lactobacillus on lipid metabolism and hepatic steatosis in male mice fed with a high-fat diet by measuring blood lipid, hepatic function and hepatocyte morphology. ⋯ Lactobacillus may regulate blood lipid in mice fed with a high-fat diet. Lactobacillus can improve the high cholesterol, high blood lipid, and injury of hepatic function, and prevent further development of atherosclerosis caused by a high-fat diet to some extent. Correct dietary structure is the basis for the treatment of dietary hyperlipidemia and its complications.

This study aims to investigate the effects of ivabradine (IVA) on ventricular electrophysiological remodeling after myocardial infarction (MI) in rats. ⋯ IVA can reduce the incidence of ventricular arrhythmia after MI in male rats by improving both structural and electrical remodeling, and the combination of IVA and MET is even more effective.

A dilated inferior mesenteric vein has been reported in rectal cancer patients. However, no study has yet reported inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) enlargement in rectal cancer. We aimed to assess the relationship between the IMA diameter and rectal cancer. ⋯ The IMA in rectal cancer patients enlarges as the TNM stage gets higher. The IMA diameter can be accepted as a possibly important marker for the staging of rectal cancer.

The purpose of the study was to determine the correlation between biological subtype of breast cancer and the risk of its metastasis to a sentinel lymph node. ⋯ According to our analysis luminal breast cancers are most numerous subtypes, and in these cases we expect more frequent instances of metastasis to a sentinel node. Following the most updated and modern procedures of breast cancer patients' treatment a procedure of sentinel lymph node biopsy is used, replacing an aggressive treatment in the axilla region. In regards to our analysis we should be more vigilant in estimation of regional lymph nodes in luminal patients under sixty with high grade tumours and the tumour diameter more than 20 mm.
