The pathology of Alzheimer's disease (AD) includes β-amyloid (Aβ) (plaques) and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs). This study aimed to explore the efficacy of Huatuo Zaizao pill (HTZP) in an AD mouse model induced by injecting Aβ1-42, and the neuroprotective mechanism of HTZP in AD. ⋯ These results showed that HTZP could mitigate a cognitive disorder, diminish the activation of microglia, and inhibit the content of inflammatory factors through the NF-κB pathway in Aβ1-42-induced AD mice. HTZP may be an appropriate agent for AD treatment in the future.

This study aims to explore the clinical features and prognostic factors for relapse of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) in adults. ⋯ ADEM in adults is not uncommon, its clinical features are complex and varied, and some of these are multiphasic. There may be some potential clinical predictors at first onset.

Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) is recognized as an independent risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). The aim of this study was to estimate the distribution of Lp(a) levels in working age adults from the Russian population and to assess its association with ischemic heart disease (IHD), myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, diabetes mellitus (DM), and arterial hypertension (AH). ⋯ Lipoprotein(a) level ≥ 30 mg/dl was detected in every fifth adult aged 25-64 years. Increased risk of MI and IHD starts at an Lp(a) serum level above 9 mg/dl.

Recent studies have proved the diverse roles of miRs in different cancer-related processes. This study was undertaken to determine the therapeutic implications of miR-325-3p in breast cancer. ⋯ Taken together, the evidence shows that miR-325 acts as a tumor suppressor in breast cancer and may be used in the treatment of breast cancer.

Idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) is a rare and sporadic form of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), characterized by elevated pulmonary arterial resistance leading to right heart failure. However, molecular mechanisms of PAH development are still not completely understood. ⋯ Notably, 6 of these lncRNAs were associated with modules characterized by the NOD-like receptor signaling pathway and chemokine signaling pathway, suggesting that these lncRNAs may promote the occurrence of IPAH via participating in the pro-inflammatory pathways. In conclusion, our systematic analysis not only improved our understanding of the molecular mechanism, but also provided potential lncRNA biomarkers for further research.
