The present study evaluated whether adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are significantly and independently associated with six key outcomes in the Polish general population: (1) lifetime suicide attempt, (2) self-mutilation, (3) potential problem drinking, (4) use of street drugs, (5) visiting a psychologist/psychotherapist, and (6) visiting a psychiatrist. We also investigated whether ACEs explain a significant proportion of variability in generalized self-efficacy. ⋯ The present study identified a strong association between childhood adversity and increased likelihood of lifetime self-mutilation, potential problem drinking, visiting a psychologist/psychotherapist, and visiting a psychiatrist. Generalized self-efficacy may be an important target for secondary intervention following childhood adversity.

Gliomas are lethal cancers accounting for significant human mortality across the globe. MicroRNAs (miRs) have shown potential to act as therapeutic targets for the treatment of cancer. Herein the role and therapeutic implications of miR-16 in glioma were investigated. ⋯ miR-16 acts as tumour suppressor in glioma and may severe as therapeutic target for glioma treatment.

Mesenchymal stem cells can develop into osteoblasts, making them a promising cell-based osteoporosis treatment. Despite their therapeutic potential, their molecular processes are little known. Bioinformatics and experimental analysis were used to determine the molecular processes of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) therapy for postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMO). ⋯ BMSCs release KLF2, which stimulates the PIK3CA-dependent PI3K-Akt pathway to treat PMO. Our findings illuminates the involvement of KLF2 and the PI3K-Akt pathway in BMSC osteoblast development, which may lead to better PMO treatments.

Investigating how circular RNAs (circRNAs) function during tumorigenesis may help uncover novel diagnostic markers for cancer treatment. The oncogenic role of circ_001621 has been verified in osteosarcoma, but its role in lung cancer has yet to be reported. This research is the first to investigate the circ_001621 expression and regulatory mechanism in lung cancer. ⋯ The circ_001621/miR-199a-3p/GREM1 axis exhibits an association with the development of lung cancer, suggesting its potential as a future therapeutic target for the disease.

Mobile social media is a new type of online media that is participatory, open, and communicative, among other characteristics. Due to the increasing popularity of social media, this technology has become an indispensable part of people's social lives. This study aims to examine the relationship between childhood psychological maltreatment and social media addiction among university students as well as the mediating role of fear of missing out and the moderating effect of left-behind experience in this context. ⋯ Childhood psychological maltreatment can predict social media addiction among university students not only directly but also indirectly through the mediating role of missed anxiety. The direct effect of childhood psychological maltreatment on social media addiction is moderated by left-behind experience. The first half of the mediating role of missed anxiety is also moderated by left-behind experience.
