The aim of our study was to assess the potential value of the Comirnaty vaccine (BNT162b2) in Poland. A model was used to estimate patient events, direct medical costs, utilities, and cost-effectiveness for 1 year with and without implementation of the vaccine. ⋯ When prioritization is required due to supply constraints, vaccination of the elderly is justified because it gives the highest number of QALY gained and generates savings for the health care system. Continual updates of the model concerning vaccine real-life effectiveness and epidemic course are required to refine the prioritisation scheme in the future.

Accumulating evidence has shown the potential of bergamottin as an anticancer agent. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the anticancer affects of bergamottin (μM) against colon cancer cells. ⋯ Taken together, bergamottin suppresses the proliferation of colon cancer cells and may be utilised in the development of chemotherapy for colon cancer.

The effects of hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury on postoperative cognitive function in aged rats.
Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury (I/R) is a significant source of morbidity and mortality after liver surgery. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of hepatic I/R injury on the hippocampus in rats with postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD). ⋯ Hepatic I/R injury has a negative impact on the postoperative cognitive function in aged rats, leading to hippocampus changes with PS abnormity and level changes of NF-κB, PKCγ. However, this cognitive deficit improved over time.

Long intergenic non-protein-coding RNA 1296 (LINC01296), a newly identified lncRNA, can function as an oncogenic driver to promote the development of multiple carcinomas. However, the effect of LINC01296 on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is still unclear. ⋯ LINC01296 promote the cell cycle, proliferation, migration and invasion, and inhibit apoptosis of OSCC cells through activating the MAPK/ERK signaling pathway via sponging miR-485-5p to regulate PAK4 expression. These results suggested that the LINC01296/miR-485-5p/PAK4 axis was closely associated with OSCC progression. Our study provides a new insight into the molecular pathogenesis of OSCC, and may supply novel biomarkers for diagnosis and therapy of OSCC.

Subchorionic hematoma (SCH) in pregnancy has been associated with increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. We aimed to investigate the association of SCH with adverse pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women in relation to size of hematoma and control subjects. ⋯ Our findings suggest that large SCH might indicate an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes such as 1st trimester vaginal bleeding, early pregnancy loss, IUGR, placental abruption or preterm delivery. These findings are important to guide the patients with SCH for detailed clinical evaluation.
