There is growing evidence that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are correlated with malignancy in the modulation of tumor progression. This study aims to investigate the effect of homeobox protein (HOX) transcript antisense RNA (HOTAIR) on the migration and invasion of ESC. ⋯ Our results reveal that HOTAIR may be a driver of ESC through inhibiting miR-152-3p, a tumor suppressor, suggesting that miR-152-3p may be a potential target for advanced ESC therapeutic treatment.

The aim of this randomized controlled experimental study was to evaluate the efficacy of potassium, pH and D-dimer levels in blood, as well as potassium and pH levels in peritoneal lavage fluid, in the early diagnosis of acute mesenteric ischemia. ⋯ The levels of potassium, pH, and D-dimer could be useful in daily practice for the early diagnosis of acute mesenteric ischemia.

The long-term outcomes of percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) within coronary artery bypasses are still poor as compared to those within native coronary arteries. Thus, we aimed to assess predictors of long-term clinical outcomes after PCIs of coronary bypasses. ⋯ Percutaneous coronary interventions of two or more bypasses, post-dilatation and no-reflow are predictors of worse outcome in patients undergoing PCI within coronary artery bypass grafts.

Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors have various cellular effects that are associated with vascular protection. Here, we examined whether vildagliptin protected endothelial function in diabetic rats and explored the involved mechanism. ⋯ Our present study indicates that vildagliptin can recover endothelial function in diabetic rats. Anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptosis mechanisms and endothelial moderation may be the intervention targets of vildagliptin to protect the cardiovascular system through miRNA regulation.

Pyroptosis is a regulated form of cell death, which is often a consequence of the activation of inflammatory caspases. ⋯ Herein, the extant evidence for the potential value of statins in targeting pyroptosis in various diseases is reviewed.
