Limited data exist on long-term follow-up of severe aortic stenosis (SAS) patients who have undergone transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) with a new generation, balloon expandable Myval transcatheter heart valve (THV). Thus, we sought to investigate the performance and 2-year clinical outcome of the Myval THV system based on Valve Academic Research Consortium-3 (VARC-3) criteria. ⋯ In this cohort of patients with SAS, the Myval was found to be safe and effective in up to 2 years of follow-up.

Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is a chronic, systemic autoimmune disease characterized by dryness of the eyes and mouth. The histological feature is mononuclear cell infiltration in exocrine glands, primarily salivary and lachrymal glands. As the disease progresses, some other tissues and organs may be involved and extraglandular manifestations ensue. ⋯ In addition, modulation of T cell function with abatacept ameliorates the severity of pSS. Furthermore, clinical trials to inhibit important cytokines involved in its formation have been carried out. In this article, we summarize and compare current biological therapies in order to find new and effective treatments for pSS.

Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (LRP) has become a common option for the treatment of prostate cancer. The aim of our study was to examine whether LRP performed within 12 weeks of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is associated with surgical difficulty or outcomes. ⋯ Our results showed that performing LRP within 12 weeks after TURP does not adversely influence surgical difficulty or outcomes.

Pediatric transplantation is an extremely complex and emotionally difficult area of pediatric medicine. The process of obtaining a pediatric donor by the staff is an extremely delicate topic, and for the family of the deceased child, often an unimaginable and painful process. The aim of the study was to analyze parents' opinions on pediatric transplantology. Methods: The research survey method was applied using an original survey questionnaire made available electronically using a Google form. The group analyzed included 203 respondents. ⋯ There is a need for social education in the field of pediatric transplantation and to facilitate access to professional psychological care for pediatric patients and/or their caregivers.

In this retrospective study, the authors evaluated whether obesity-induced immunomodulation impacts the expression of programmed death ligand-1 (PD-1L) in lung cancer cells. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was performed. The study included 67 patients. The data did not have a normal distribution. ⋯ Apart from the above, the authors did not find any statistically significant correlation between PD-1L expression on lung cancer cells and body mass index, either in the whole group or in histological subgroups.
