Comparative Study
The comparison of modified minimally invasive and open surgical approaches in the treatment of epithelial thymic tumours.
Exploring the efficacy of a modified combined minimally invasive approach in patients with thymoma regardless of myasthenia gravis involvement in contrast to open surgery as the mainstay of treatment. ⋯ Our results showed the modified maximal minimally invasive thymectomy to be an effective and safe method, and after overcoming the learning curve, even superior to open surgery in cases with lower tumour stages in terms of its extent (Tab. 3, Fig. 1, Ref. 49).

Our understanding of the mechanisms responsible for death of aged people from Covid-19 became one of the major concerns of these days. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) enhances the normal senescence and accelerates the precocious removal of chronologically young, yet biologically aged cells. Thus, its deficiency is associated with an increase in the cellular oxidative stress. ⋯ Unfortunately, this enzyme deficiency markedly decreases with aging what is involved in increasing of the morbidity rate. The aim of this mini review was to shed more light on the role of G6PD deficiency in aged people infected with Covid-19 (Ref. 20). Keywords: GSPD, Covid-19, elderly people.

Epiduroscopy is a percutaneous endoscopic technique with an interesting diagnostic and therapeutic potential. ⋯ The current summarised results indicate a significant positive effect of epiduroscopy in the treatment of chronic back pain with a reduction in radiating pain to the lower extremities and an increase in patients' quality of life after the procedure (Tab. 2, Fig. 1, Ref. 23).

COVID-19 is not fully known and causes severe inflammation and cytokine storm. It has many symptoms, such as: fever, sore throat, headache, dyspnoea, and diarrhoea. Arbidol was used in the treatment of COVID19, which was the most critical health problem in the world. However, the desired recovery was not achieved with Arbidol. Many countries still use this drug in the treatment of COVID19. ⋯ The similarity between hemagglutinin and spike proteins were reported due to the fact that inhibition properties of Arbidol and its 39 analogues were examined in detail against hemagglutinin esterase and spike glycoproteins. CID 1070884 and CID 1207786 were found to be more active against hemagglutinin esterase than in Arbidol, while these compounds were inactive against spike glycoproteins. The interaction mechanism was clarified between arbidol and spike proteins. Phenylalanine, tyrosine, glycine, lysine, and aspartic acid were found to be the headliner amino acids in the interactions between Arbidol and binding domains of spike glycoproteins in the SARS-CoV2 (Tab. 3, Fig. 8, Ref. 28).

The purpose of this paper is to present the development and design of an abdominal retractor which allows a single person to perform operations and the fixation of the operation instruments can be done with one hand. The additional devices make the operation more comfortable for surgeons. ⋯ The present abdominal retractor is user-friendly and all components are easily sterilized by conventional methods (Fig. 7, Ref. 6) Keywords: abdominal retractor, stainless steel retractor, standard surger, fixation system of the frame, lamp, video camera, conventional methods.
