This study aims to compare the protective effects of ambrisentan, a selective endothelin typeA receptor antagonist, and bosentan, a dual endothelin typeA/B receptor antagonist, on experimental renal ischemia reperfusion injury. ⋯ In the experimentally created renal ischemia reperfusion model, both ambrisentan and bosentan increased the NOx level, decreased the apoptosis, and protected the kidney from renal ischemia reperfusion injury. However, no significant superiority was found between ambrisentan and bosentan in terms of their protective effects (Tab. 3, Fig. 2, Ref. 31).

The aim of the present study was to investigate the neuroprotective effect of ceftriaxone in a rat brain ischemia/reperfusion injury model. ⋯ These results suggest that ceftriaxone could be beneficial for the prevention of brain ischemia/reperfusion injury caused by acute arterial occlusion through reducing the tissue MDA level (Tab. 2, Fig. 5, Ref. 24).

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of apoptosis on rat skeletal muscle caused by chronic alcohol and statin consumption with modified liquid diet and to elucidate protective effects of betaine supplementation. ⋯ We found that combined consumption of ethanol and statin is capable of triggering apoptotic cell death in rat muscles more than the consumption of only alcohol or only statin. Betaine was able to reduced this muscle cell death induced by alcohol and/or statin consumption (Tab. 4, Fig. 4, Ref. 43).

Periodontal health should be defined as a state free from inflammatory periodontal disease that allows an individual to function normally and not suffer any consequences (mental or physical) as a result of past disease. Tissues located in the vicinity of implants, known as peri-implantation tissues, have specific and in many ways similar anatomy. The elaborate protocol of preventive measures to ensure periodontal health is extremely important. ⋯ Herein, we describe that the periodontal health can serve as a vital common reference point for assessing disease, determining meaningful preventive methods and treatment outcomes. This article mainly focuses on the role of new clinical data regarding periodontal health and motivational interviewing, which received a particular attention in recent years such as motivation for abidance and on the prognosis of periodontal health (Tab. 3, Ref. 26).
