Although the data in the literature regarding the etiopathogenesis of adrenal adenomas are scarce, the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an easy-to-calculate parameter that has gained popularity in recent years as an indicator of subinflammation. In this study, we aimed to show the changes in NLR in patients with adrenal incidentaloma. ⋯ Adrenal incidentaloma has become one of the clinical problems frequently encountered by endocrinologists in recent years. Even when they are nonfunctional, they are thought to be associated with various metabolic disorders and inflammation. With this study, we have captured a clue to inflammation, and we are sharing the findings described herein (Tab. 1, Ref. 28) Keywords: adrenal, neutrophil, lymphocyte.

The study focused on the relationship between routine clinical characteristics and anti-SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies in a pilot sample of healthcare workers (HCWs) having suffered COVID-19. The aim was to investigate the existence of readily available predictors of antibodies against COVID-19. ⋯ The mean interval between the symptom onset and the determination of antibodies was 58 days. IgG seropositivity and IgM seropositivity were noted in 82 % and 49 % of HCWs, respectively. Symptom duration was the only statistically significant predictor of IgG seropositivity. With each day of symptom duration, the probability of IgG seropositivity increased from 1.078 to 1.092 times (p < 0.05). If symptoms lasted longer than 17 days, a majority (almost 80 %) of the subjects demonstrated seropositivity in the following months. CONCLUSION: The presence of IgG immunity may be assumed from symptom duration. Such easy recognizing of seropositive patients may be a useful tool, e.g. in vaccination strategies (Tab. 3, Fig. 1, Ref. 28).

The present study aims to report the incidence of colorectal cancer patients under 50 years of age and to compare its aggressiveness with colorectal cancer patients over 50 years of age. ⋯ The incidence of colorectal cancer has increased at younger ages and has a more aggressive course. Screening programs should be modified (Tab. 4, Fig. 2, Ref. 45).

Anticoagulant treatment approach in patients with COVID-19 is not well studied and not standardized. We aimed to compare the effects of standard prophylactic and pre-emptive therapeutic Low-Molecular-weight Heparin (LMWH) treatment approaches on mortality in patients with COVID-19. ⋯ Among the 336 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia, 115 patients, who received LMWH were included in the study. The mean age was 58.6 ± 13.3 and 58 (50.4 %) of the patients were male. Sixty-nine (60 %) of the patients were treated with prophylactic and 46 (40 %) therapeutic LMWH.In-hospital mortality was not different between patients treated therapeutic LMWH and prophylactic LMWH by the multivariate regression analysis (OR=2.187, 95% CI 0.484-9.880, p=0.309) and the propensity score modelling (OR=1.586, 95% CI 0.400-6.289, p=0.512.)CONCLUSION: Clinicians should consider the potential risks and benefits of standard prophylactic and pre-emptive therapeutic LMWH. Therefore, anticoagulant therapy should be individualized in patients with COVID-19 (Tab. 3, Ref. 28).

Although fibronectin has an important role in wound repair, nearly no human studies to date have investigated its condition in ulcerative colitis (UC) histologically. E-cadherin plays a critical role in the repair of normal epithelial tissues. This study aims to find out the condition of these two molecules in UC. ⋯ We suggest that the decrease in E-cadherin, even in the inactive period, might be the cause of why UC is not just a compensatory change in repair of inflammation. The results of staining with fibronectin in UC patients were between normal individuals and SCC patients. Further studies are necessary to confirm our results (Tab. 2, Fig. 6, Ref. 15).
