The aim of this study is to determine the role of hematological parameters - neutrophil/lymphocyte, platelet/lymphocyte, and monocyte/lymphocyte ratios - in the diagnosis of aseptic loosening after total knee arthroplasty. ⋯ No hematological parameter that could be used in the diagnosis of aseptic loosening has been defined in the literature so far. This study demonstrated that the monocyte/lymphocyte ratio could be a helpful parameter in the diagnosis of aseptic loosening (Tab. 1, Fig. 1, Ref. 28).

To evaluate the acute effects of volume-targeted non-invasive ventilation (NIV) on hemodynamic parameters assessed by impedance cardiography in patients with obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS). ⋯ Volume-targeted NIV may acutely improve systolic time intervals without any negative impact on the left ventricular function in OHS patients (Tab. 2, Ref. 17).

Serum butyrylcholinesterase activities in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Comparison with liver proteosynthetic function and liver fibrosis.
We aimed to determine how does butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) activity change in the serum of NAFLD patients, whether there was a relationship between BChE and the severity of NAFLD and whether BChE could be used to distinguish the patients with simple hepatic steatosis from the patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. ⋯ Our results showed increased BChE values in NAFLD patients. The comparison of changes in BChE activity with the changes in prealbumin levels and changes of both fibro markers showed that the examination of BChE activity could help to differentiate NAFLD patients with a simple hepatic steatosis from those with an advanced disease (Tab. 1, Fig. 7, Ref. 28). Arthroscopic Latarjet surgery is a technique developed to minimize invasive surgical treatment of anterior shoulder instability. However, compared to an open Latarjet operation, it is considered more technically demanding. The aim of our study was to assess its mid-term success rate in the hands of a surgeon with sufficient experience. ⋯ Our results demonstrated that when in the hands of experienced surgeon, the arthroscopic Latarjet surgery is an effective surgical method with a low incidence of complications and excellent mid-term clinical outcomes (Fig. 17, Ref. 25).

The present study aims to report the incidence of colorectal cancer patients under 50 years of age and to compare its aggressiveness with colorectal cancer patients over 50 years of age. ⋯ The incidence of colorectal cancer has increased at younger ages and has a more aggressive course. Screening programs should be modified (Tab. 4, Fig. 2, Ref. 45).
