The aim of the current study was to evaluate the index of Cardiac Electrophysiological Balance (iCEB) in hospitalized COVID-19 patients receiving Hydroxychloroquine / azithromycin (HCQ / AZ) combination therapy to determine the susceptibility to ventricular arrhythmia among these patients. ⋯ To the best of our knowledge, this was the first study to investigate iCEB and iCEBc parameters in patients with COVID-19 on HCQ/AZ therapy. In this study, we demonstrated significantly increased iCEB and iCEBc values following HCQ/AZ treatment in COVID-19 patients. iCEB and iCEBc may serve as a noninvasive, simple, and novel biomarker for detecting increased pro-arrhythmia risk in COVID-19 patients (Tab. 3, Fig. 3, Ref. 36).

Contrast-induced encephalopathy (CIE) is a rare complication of the intravascular application of a contrast agent. CIE can be manifested by headache, cortical blindness, consciousness disorders, seizures, or focal neurological deficit. ⋯ We present a case of CIE after a digital subtraction angiography of the vertebral arteries in the patient with a symptomatic pre-occlusive stenosis of the posterior cerebral artery (Ref. 36). This study analysed the characteristics and outcome of the patients with bilateral germ testicular cell cancer (TC), especially synchronous. ⋯ Bilateral TC is a rare and requires individualized management of patients (Tab. 5, Fig. 4, Ref. 32).

This study aimed to fabricate the PCL-nanoparticles (NPs) loaded retinoic acid (RA) using the microfluidic system for successful cellular uptake and induction of neuronal differentiation of trabecular meshwork mesenchymal stem cells (TMMSCs). ⋯ Our study's harvested results have represented valid data for practical use of microfluidic systems in the term of NPs loaded RA synthesis and its successful function to cellular internalization and euronal differentiation of TMMSCs (Tab. 2, Fig. 10, Ref. 46).

Seven dioxaborole compounds are investigated in this study. Structural and spectral characterization is done at M062X/6-31+G(d,p) level in the water. Active sites of these compounds are determined using molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) maps. Electrophilic and nucleophilic attack regions are determined. ⋯ Since SARS-CoV-2 is a worldwide health problem, anti-viral properties of studied boron-containing compounds were investigated by molecular docking calculations. In addition to these calculations, MM/PSBA calculations were performed. It was found that boron compounds can be good drug candidate against SARS-CoV-2 and the best compound is ((R)-1-((S)-3-(4-(aminomethyl)phenyl)-2-benzamidopropanamido)-4-guanidinobutyl)boronic acid (C26) (Tab. 2, Fig. 6, Ref. 29). Text in PDF www.elis.sk Keywords: boronate ester, dioxaborole, in silico, SARS-CoV-2, MD calculations.
