Adipose tissue is involved in the synthesis of hormones that have an impact on food intake regulation, control of insulin sensitivity or regulation of inflammatory processes. The aim of this study was to determine the importance of adipocytokines and interleukins levels for the development of post-transplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) after kidney transplantation (KT). ⋯ We confirmed that elevated leptin level 12 months after KT is associated with the development of PTDM (Tab. 3, Fig. 4, Ref. 22). This survey was aimed to obtain the characteristics of physicians operating in mass vaccination sites (MVS), emphasizing their motivation to work there. ⋯ The financial aspect was the most important motivational factor among residents, while moral responsibility was decisive for the attending physicians. Physicians, who participated in MVS as a work duty presented both the most prevalent self-perceived burnout syndrome (32 %) and the hesitancy (48 %) to work in MVS again in the future (Tab. 4, Ref. 15) Keywords: mass vaccination site, COVID-19; healthcare workers, vaccination, SARS-CoV-2, coronavirus.

We investigated iron accumulation and the possible mechanisms in the rabbit cerebellum after the exposure to the real GSM and generated radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF EMF) using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP MS) and particles induced X-ray emission (PIXE). ⋯ We suggest that the iron accumulation after the exposure to RF ELF is not the result of higher permeability of blood-brain barrier and leaking out of iron from the bloodstream into the brain cells and tissues. It could be the result of an iron actuation and its redistribution in the tissue (Fig. 2, Ref. 86).

Life expectancy of cancer patients determine the regimen of treatment. There is no feasible marker that determines the survival other than the stage of the disease or other patients related factors. Bilirubin can be a revealing marker for these. The effect of bilirubin may be due to the fact that the genetic and biochemical processes of bilirubin also modulate the tumour microenvironment. Radiotherapy and bilirubin can produce an effect similar to metformin via AMPK pathway. ⋯ Plasma bilirubin level at the time of diagnosis affects the survival of the patients independent of cancer stage and tumour volume. Possible additive interactions of radiotherapy and bilirubin are discussed with their pathophysiological mechanisms (Tab. 2, Fig. 7, Ref. 26).

In our study, it was aimed to find out whether it would be possible to determine the disease severity by comparing the values of red cell distribution width (RDW), c-reactive protein (CRP), CRP/albumin, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in patients with acute pancreatitis according to Bedside Index of Severity in Acute Pancreatitis (BISAP) scores at the time of admission. ⋯ CRP/albumin, NLR, PLR, and RDW values were found to be statistically significantly higher in patients with severe acute pancreatitis compared to those with mild acute pancreatitis according to the BISAP score (pthat this scoring system could be a practical and reliable guide in the treatment and follow-up of patients with acute pancreatitis (Tab. 6, Fig. 3, Ref. 22).
