Randomized Controlled Trial
A multimodal opioid-sparing pain management following total knee replacement.
The purpose of this study is to compare the pain scores, opioid consumption, and range of motion of the operated knee after total knee replacement (TKR) in the 10-day follow-up period between a traditional opioid-containing pain management protocol and a multimodal opioid-sparing treatment protocol. ⋯ The results of this study suggest that a multimodal opioid-sparing pain protocol after TKR, which includes oral non-opioid medications and periarticular injection with bupivacaine, provides better pain relief and early functional gains with fewer rescue opioids compared to traditional opioid-based protocols (Tab. 4, Fig. 2, Ref. 22).

To compare seroconversion for SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain (RBD) specific IgG positivity against two doses of the CoronaVac vaccine in breast and lung cancer patients receiving systemic therapy, to determine the factors affecting seropositivity, and to observe long-term results up to a secondary booster vaccine. ⋯ Cancer patients receiving an active systemic therapy with two doses of the CoronaVac vaccine had a lower antibody response than the non-cancer population, and deaths due to COVID-19 may occur in these patients despite the vaccine. Therefore, extensive protective measures should be taken to protect against COVID-19 in cancer patients aged 60 years and older, who have received two doses of the CoronaVac vaccine (Tab. 4, Fig. 4, Ref. 27).

The anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody pembrolizumab has been shown to be associated with a good response in patients with metastatic gastric cancer. Excellent therapeutic results of pembrolizumab have been shown in patients with tumours showing a high microsatellite instability (MSI) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) positivity. ⋯ EBV-encoded RNA was detected in nine patients. None of them exhibited Her-2 overexpression or CMV infection. PD-L1 was detected in twelve patients. Ten patients were MLH1 positive. All nine cases of EBV infection showed a high expression of PD-L1 and MLH-1 (Tab. 1, Ref. 14).

This study was aimed to estimate the effect of one-year persistence of COVID-19 anti-pandemic measures on the posture and spine in children of younger school age in Slovakia. ⋯ Study confirmed a worsening of the posture and spine in school children after a one year of strict anti-pandemic measures. As postural changes increased by 20 % during the year, it seems necessary to implement appropriate preventives programs for children, which could have the potential to improve their postural state (Tab. 2, Fig. 1, Ref. 37). Retention in alcohol-dependence treatment is an indicator of successful treatment. The aim of this study was to analyze Lesch's typology of alcohol dependence (LAT) and the participation of close people as potential predictors of retention in outpatient treatment. ⋯ We found no significant difference in the treatment retention of alcohol-dependent patients at the 6-month follow-up. However, a more comprehensive survival analysis indicated a trend of different retention dynamics between the Lesch I and merged Lesch II and III subgroups. Baseline severity of dependence measured by AUDIT score had no significant effect on treatment retention (Tab. 1, Fig. 3, Ref. 35).
