The purpose of this report is to analyze factors affecting morbidity and mortality following pneumonectomy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ Patients with right pneumonectomies are at increased risk. Coronary artery disease and respiratory failure adversely affect morbidity and mortality after this procedure (Tab. 3, Ref. 19). Full Text in free PDF www.bmj.sk.

In kidney surgery, bleeding is one of the most important issues. In partial nephrectomy, as a "blood stopper", we used surgycell and ankaferd which is used traditionally in Turkish medicine. ⋯ Ankaferd is a substance which can be used effectively for controlling acute bleeding in kidney surgery (Tab. 2, Ref. 19). Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
The comparison of ultrasound treatment and local steroid injection plus splinting in the carpal tunnel syndrome: a randomized controlled trial.
This study aimed to compare the efficacy of ultrasound treatment to local corticosteroid injection plus splinting in carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). There is still limited knowledge on the efficacy of conservative treatment options for CTS. ⋯ Both ultrasound treatment and corticosteroid injection plus splinting were effective on the clinical symptoms and the electrophysiological findings of CTS. Thus, the ultrasound therapy may be an alternative treatment for CTS, particularly in patient who do not accept injection or splinting (Tab. 3, Fig. 2, Ref. 36).

Comparative Study
The role of diclofenac and piritramide in the management of acute postoperative pain in hernioplasty.
The aim of the study was to compare the effects of diclofenac and piritramide in acute postoperative pain after hernioplasty. ⋯ We observed that the first-line analgesic treatment based on piritramide was more effective when compared to that based on diclofenac (Tab. 3, Ref. 3). The tuberculin skin test (TST) has recently been proposed as a screening procedure for latent TB prior to anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) alpha therapy. Our aim was to evaluate TST levels in patients receiving anti TNF alpha due to ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). ⋯ This is the first study to evaluate the correlation between the use of multiple immunosuppressive agents and TST. We determined that TST is correlated with disease duration in AS and with the use of multiple immunosuppressive agents in RA (Tab. 3, Ref. 21).
