Emergency percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty in acute myocardial infarction complicated with cardiogenic shock.
To approach the efficacy of emergency percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) in Chinese patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) complicated by cardiogenic shock. ⋯ Emergency PTCA can achieve a high success rate and significantly decrease the mortality rate to less than 50% in Chinese patients with acute MI complicated with cardiogenic shock. The patients tolerate the PTCA procedure very well under the assistance of intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation (IABP) even in very severe condition.
