Multicenter StudyEpidemiology of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection and empirical antibiotic therapy for MRSA infection: multicenter investigation.
The epidemiology of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) maybe changed by strict infection control measures, and the impact of empirical antibiotic therapy on the outcomes of MRSA infection was not clear. We aimed to investigate the present epidemiological status of MRSA infection and empirical antibiotic therapy for MRSA infection in university teaching hospitals in mainland China. ⋯ The MRSA infection rates are at relatively low levels in university teaching hospitals in China. The empirical use of sensitive antibiotics for MRSA infection was at relatively high rate, and there is a tendency of overusing in patients without MRSA infection. On the other hand, the rate of appropriate empirical antibiotic therapy for patients with MRSA infection is relatively low.

Multicenter StudyAssessment effect of central venous pressure in fluid resuscitation in the patients with shock: a multi-center retrospective research.
Central venous pressure (CVP) and intrathoracic blood volume index (ITBVI) were used to assess the fluid status. It has previously been shown that CVP is not as accurate as ITBVI for all the shock patients. We therefore hypothesized that the change of CVP has the ability to predict fluid responsiveness in some clinical cases of shock. ⋯ ΔCVP is not suitable for evaluating the volume status of the shock patients with fluid resuscitation regardless of their condition. However, in some ways, ΔCVP have the ability to predict fluid responsiveness in the younger shock patients or in the hypovolemic shock patients.

Training for percutaneous renal access on a virtual reality simulator.
The need to develop new methods of surgical training combined with advances in computing has led to the development of virtual reality surgical simulators. The PERC Mentor(TM) is designed to train the user in percutaneous renal collecting system access puncture. This study aimed to validate the use of this kind of simulator, in percutaneous renal access training. ⋯ The training on the virtual reality simulator, PERC Mentor(TM), can help trainees with no previous experience of fluoroscopy-guided percutaneous renal access to complete the virtual manipulation of the procedure independently. This virtual reality simulator may become an important training and evaluation tool in teaching fluoroscopy-guided percutaneous renal access.

Effect of total lumbar disc replacement on the treatment of discogenic low lumbar pain: preliminary outcomes.
Lumbar pedicle screw fixation and fusion are major procedures for treating discogenic low back pain (DLBP). However, due to its advantages of preserving the segmental motion and biomechanical simulation, artificial total lumbar disc replacement (TDR) is increasingly popular. ⋯ With similar clinical improvements as the traditional spinal fusion method, TDR offered significantly better ROM and intervertebral foramen height.
