SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19) has become a pandemic with a high case fatality rate that mainly affects adults. Most severely ill adult patients develop a coagulopathy that was not described until recently, and which is currently considered a main cause of death. ⋯ Evidence regarding the use of anticoagulants in COVID-19 is rapidly generated, changes constantly, it is often difficult to interpret, and can be contradictory. After an extensive review of the published literature, a proposal was generated that offers suggestions for anticoagulant treatment, considering available resources in Mexico.

Surgery for congenital heart disease can generate cerebral perfusion-associated alterations with neurological repercussions. ⋯ RI changes were common, although neurological damage appears to occur more commonly when RI remains high, possibly associated with low cerebral blood flow.

Diagnostic accuracy of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale: consequences of screening in Mexican women.
Postpartum depression is a non-psychotic depressive episode with serious repercussions on the bond between the mother and her child, hence the importance of detecting it in a timely manner. ⋯ The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale has moderate accuracy; its application is simple, accessible and should be routine. It is necessary for strategies to detect and treat postpartum depression to be implemented in Mexico.

Pregnancies resulting from assisted reproductive technologies (ART) have been documented to have a higher risk of adverse effects. ⋯ Pregnancies by ART are associated with an increased risk of obstetric and perinatal complications in comparison with spontaneous conceptions. Further research is needed to determine which aspects result in higher risk.

Sepsis and septic shock in emergency departments of Mexico: a multicenter point prevalence study.
Sepsis is one of the main reasons for consultation at emergency departments. ⋯ Se encontró alta prevalencia de la sepsis en los servicios de urgencias médicas mexicanos. La mortalidad de los pacientes con choque séptico fue similar e, incluso, mayor a la reportada internacionalmente.
