Lung ultrasound (LUS) implementation in patients with COVID-19 can help to establish the degree of pulmonary involvement, evaluate treatment response and estimate in-hospital outcome. ⋯ LUS is a safe and fast clinical tool that can be applied at bedside in patients with COVID-19 infection to establish the degree of parenchymal involvement and predict mortality.

Breast cancer associated with pregnancy is defined as a malignant neoplasm of the breast that is diagnosed during pregnancy, breastfeeding or one year after delivery. ⋯ Breast cancer associated with pregnancy implies an oncological challenge and does not appear to be a risk factor for adverse perinatal outcomes.

Low levels of vitamin D have been associated with muscle mass loss and cognitive function alteration. ⋯ Vitamin D did not have a positive influence on muscle mass. A better MMSE performance was observed in those with lower vitamin D levels.

In Mexico, there is a syndemic in pregnant women, where the epidemic of obesity and chronic diseases coexists with that of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which has been associated with a higher risk of maternal mortality. ⋯ Comorbidities during pregnancy that are possibly associated with an increase in the inflammatory response and an alteration of the immune response increase the risk of maternal death from COVID-19 in Mexican pregnant women.

Central aortic arterial stiffness (CAAS) is an independent cardiovascular risk factor. Insulin resistance (IR) contributes to CAAS-associated risk. ⋯ The relationship between IR and CAAS is present before the onset of diabetes; this association may entail higher cardiovascular risk.
