Diseases of the respiratory system represent one of the leading causes of medical care and antibiotic prescriptions. Currently, new technologies are used for the diagnosis of respiratory diseases of viral origin, such as the FilmArray Respiratory Panel®, approved in 2012 by the FDA. The purpose of this study was to identify the correlation between the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory tract infections and the result of the polymerase chain reaction test for respiratory viruses. ⋯ Despite the global alert regarding antimicrobial resistance, patients continue to be treated with antibiotics, due to a situation that we ignore, but that is believed to be influenced by several factors.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, adherence to hygiene measures is an objective aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality. ⋯ Health personnel showed low proportions of adherence to hand hygiene and use of equipment for specific protection during the COVID-19 pandemic.

By the end 2019 there was an outbreak of pneumonia caused by a new coronavirus, a disease that was called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Computed tomography (CT) has played an important role in the diagnosis of COVID-19 patients. ⋯ Scale 4 (proposed by Wang) showed the best inter-observer agreement, with a coefficient of 0.964 (p = 0.001).

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of mortality in women; preeclampsia (PE) and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are associated with an increased risk of CVD. ⋯ GP-reported screening strategies to identify CVD in women with a history of PE and GDM were variable.
