Background: Considering the increasing possibility of emergency situations in dental clinics over time, we conducted this study to evaluate the changes in the knowledge and practical skills of students of dental school before and after retraining for 2 years after the initial education on basic life support (BLS) of the American Heart Association (AHA). Methods: All third-year students of dental school who had received the same education on BLS provider training of the AHA 2 years earlier were included in this study. Among them, 98 students were asked to answer a questionnaire about BLS knowledge and conduct a practical skills assessment of high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation using Little Anne QCPR before and after retraining. ⋯ Comparison of the QCPR numerical data items before and after retraining showed that all items after retraining met the criteria recommended by the AHA. Conclusion: Students of dental school had low levels of knowledge and practical skills of BLS before retraining after 2 years from the initial education and had high levels after retraining. Therefore, BLS training must be updated periodically, and more effective education methods are required to maintain BLS knowledge and practical skills.

Tumor-infiltrating immune cells are closely related to the prognosis of bladder cancer. Analysis of tumor infiltrating immune cells is usually based on immunohistochemical analysis. Since many immune cell marker proteins are not specific for different immune cells, which may induce misleading or incomplete. ⋯ The characteristic genes in subtype cluster 1 were mainly involved in cell division, those in subtype cluster 2 were mainly related in antigen processing and presentation, those in subtype cluster 3 were mainly involved in epidermal cell differentiation, and those in subtype cluster 4 were mainly related in the humoral immune response. These differences may affect the development of the bladder cancer, the sensitivity to treatment as well as the prognosis. Through further validation, this study may contribute to the development of personalized therapy and precision medical treatments.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is a chronic and progressive disease of unknown cause. It is characterized by the aberrant activation of the bronchioalveolar epithelium, the formation of fibroblast foci and the excessive production extracellular matrix. ⋯ In this study, we characterize for the first time the expression of CX3CL1 and its receptor in lung tissue from patients with IPF; and its effect on collagen production in IPF fibroblasts. We found that CX3CL1-CX3CR1 axis has a modified expression in the lung tissue, importantly this axis is expressed on fibroblasts, and CX3CL1 decreased the collagen production in pulmonary fibroblasts derived from IPF patients.

Cancer incidence is rapidly growing, and cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide in the 21st century. Hepatocyte nuclear factor 1B (HNF1B) is a transcription factor that involves the growth and development of multiple organs. The aim of this study was to explore the significance of HNF1B in human cancer by an integrative analysis of online databases. ⋯ In addition, we found that HNF1B interacted with different genes in multiple aspects. Moreover, HNF1B expression is associated with many immune cell infiltration levels and influences the prognostic prediction of immune cells in some kinds of cancers. In conclusion, HNF1B plays a significant role in cancer and may be a potential target for cancer immunotherapy.

Background: Kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) is the most representative subtype of renal cancer. Immune infiltration was associated with the survival time of patients with tumors. C-C chemokine ligand 5 (CCL5) can promote the malignant process of tumor and be related to infiltration immune cells in some cancers, but not reported in KIRC. ⋯ Conclusion: The increased expression of CCL5 is related to poor prognosis and clinical features. Meanwhile, CCL5 is related to Tregs ratios and CCL5 may act as a typical chemokine to recruit Tregs in KIRC. CCL5 could be used as a biomarker for the prognosis prediction and a potential therapeutic target for patients with KIRC.
