Intentional replantation was a conventional treatment option in surgical endodontics but usually be seen as a last resort. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term treatment outcome of intentional replantation in Taiwanese population, including the survival rates and the related prognostic factors. ⋯ Intentional replantation, operated with improved modern technique, is a reliable and viable treatment with a high long-term survival rate (82.8%). If replanted teeth are diagnosed as acute or chronic apical abscess at the pre-operative examination, the risk of failure is measured 2.7 times higher than those diagnosed with other conditions. Application of EMD on the root surface of a replanted tooth may promote the formation and regeneration of periodontal apparatus, therefore increasing the functioning rate and improving the treatment outcome.

Traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine have coexisted since 1958 in Taiwan. Integrative traditional Chinese and western medicine (TC&WM) remains to be studied and promoted. In response to the documentary report of WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2002-2005, the present study was planned and carried out. ⋯ Integrative TC&WM, combining the best features of two systems, could be a most useful and advanced healthcare medicine in the future, requiring development of regulations and guidelines for the use of TCM and more rigorous efforts have to be made in clinical trials.

Mycobacterium gordonae is a ubiquitous environmental mycobacteria and has been long considered an opportunistic pathogen, causing infections only in immunocompromised hosts. Cases of M. gordonae related infections in immunocompetent host have rarely been reported, and the pathogenicity of M. gordonae remained uncertain. ⋯ Compatible with the literature reports, we demonstrate that M. gordonae could be pathogenic and causing infection not only in the immunocompromised host, but also in the otherwise healthy population. Multi-antimicrobial combination and adequate source control could have good therapeutic effect for patients with M. gordonae infections.

Pharmacokinetics and dosing of vancomycin in patients undergoing sustained low efficiency daily diafiltration (SLEDD-f): A prospective study.
The pharmacokinetics of vancomycin in patients who undergo sustained low efficiency daily diafiltration (SLEDD-f) is not clear. This study aimed to determine the appropriate vancomycin dosage regimen for patients receiving SLEDD-f. ⋯ Significant amount of vancomycin removed during SLEDD-f. Despite the existence of post-dialysis rebound, a sufficient supplemental dose is necessary to maintain therapeutic range.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Infection with SARS-CoV may cause coronary plaque instability and lead to acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Management of ACS in patients with COVID-19 needs more consideration of the balance between clinical benefit and transmission risk of virus. This review provides recommendations of management strategies for ACS in patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 in Taiwan.
