The anterior-superior movement of the hyoid bone plays a significant role in securing the airway and smooth passage of food through the cricopharyngeal muscle. The hyoid bone can be detected easily with instruments such as the videofluoroscopic swallow study (VFSS) and ultrasonography (US), which have made quantitative kinematic analysis possible. ⋯ In this review article, we aimed to present the distinct features of kinematic analysis of hyoid movement in stroke, PD, head and neck cancer, and ALS. We also present the possible relationship between altered hyoid kinematics and dysphagia.

Therapeutic efficacy and cognitive adverse events of overactive bladder medication in patients with central nervous system Disorders-A cohort study.
This cohort study evaluates therapeutic efficacy and adverse events (AEs) of various overactive bladder (OAB) medications for patients with central nervous system (CNS) disorders. ⋯ OAB medication had good therapeutic efficacy in patients who had OAB with CNS disorders, especially in cerebrovascular accident and parkinsonism. No OAB medication or their combination affected cognitive function, whereas minimal AEs were noted with mirabegron. Mirabegron could be recommended as the first choice for managing OAB in these patients.

Paired stimulation can cause neuroplasticity in corticospinal and spinal pathways in subjects with a chronic spinal cord injury (SCI). We aimed to know the effects of different waveforms using paired stimulations with bicycling in subjects with a chronic SCI. ⋯ The paired stimulation with rTMS-iTBS/tsDCS was equally effective to produce neuroplastic effect in subjects with chronic SCI compared to the conventional TMS-20 Hz/tsDCS intervention.

Characteristics, prognostic factors, and chronological trends of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests with shockable rhythms in Taiwan - A 7-year observational study.
The study aimed to explore the characteristics, predictors, and chronological trends of outcomes for adult out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs) with shockable rhythms. ⋯ The incidence of shockable OHCA remained low in Asian community. VF showed better outcomes than pVT. Over time, the incidence of shockable rhythm, BCPR rate and patient outcomes did improve with health system interventions. The number of prehospital defibrillations did not predict outcomes.

Ranibizumab reimbursement and treatment patterns for neovascular age-related macular degeneration in Taiwan - Results from the 12-month, observational RENOWNED study.
The RENOWNED study investigated the treatment patterns, real-world effectiveness and safety of ranibizumab in Taiwanese patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) treated with ranibizumab 0.5 mg in accordance with the first reimbursement scheme effective from 2012 to 2014. ⋯ Ranibizumab 0.5 mg treatment for 12 months under real-world settings improved visual outcomes in Taiwanese patients with nAMD.
