Complete intraureteral stent placement reduces stent-related symptoms: Systemic review and meta-analysis.
The distal coil of a double-J ureteral stent is considered the major cause of stent-related symptoms. We noticed that some recent studies investigated whether complete intraureteral stent placement (CIU-SP) reduced these symptoms. The current systemic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the safety and the effectiveness of CIU-SP, as compared to conventional stent placement (C-SP). ⋯ This meta-analysis reveals that CIU-SP significantly decreases stent-related urinary symptoms and pain. Based on the current evidence, CIU-SP is ready to be applied in clinical practice, at least in those requiring short-term stent placement following uncomplicated ureteroscopic lithotripsy.

Fatty liver disease and chronic hepatitis B (CHB) are the major causes for chronic liver diseases and the associated adverse outcomes. Concurrent hepatic steatosis has been found to inversely correlate with hepatitis B virus (HBV) activity both in vivo and in vitro; however, the subsequent effects on the prognosis, including advanced fibrosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development, remain diverse and inconclusive. Although the newly-proposed criteria of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) help raise disease awareness and facilitate timely diagnosis and management, its clinical impact on patients with CHB, especially after taking the metabolic dysfunction into consideration, is largely unknown and warrants comprehensive investigations to improve the management of CHB population. In this review, these relevant issues are summarized and discussed.

This study examined the prevalence and related factors of multiple (two or three) types of harassment victimization, including school bullying, cyberbullying, and teacher harassment, and their cumulative effects on depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and suicidality in adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) but without intellectual disability. ⋯ Experiencing more than one type of harassment victimization was significantly associated with the development of mental health problems in adolescents with ASD. ODD and hyperactivity/impulsivity symptoms predicted the risk of experiencing multiple types of harassment.

Pressure ulcers are a common problem in hospital care and long-term care. Pressure ulcers are caused by prolonged compression of soft tissues, which can cause local tissue damage and even lead to serious infections. This study uses a deep learning algorithm to construct a system that diagnoses pressure ulcers and assists in making treatment decisions, thus providing additional reference for first-line caregivers. ⋯ Our CNN model, which was based on Inception-ResNet-v2, achieved high accuracy when classifying different types of pressure ulcers, making it applicable in clinical circumstances.

High-dose-rate (HDR) electronic brachytherapy (EBT) has been shown to be effective for non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) in Caucasian patients. However, its efficacy remains unknown in Asian patients. To analyze the clinical outcome of HDR EBT for NMSC in a Taiwanese medical center. ⋯ HDR EBT provides adequate clinical outcomes and cosmetic results for NMSC in Asian patients. Further investigation of the dosage guidelines is needed for Asian patients with NMSC.
