Bleeding is the most dreaded complication after percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD). Clarifying the risk factors of bleeding can reduce the morbidity and mortality rates of PTBD. However, the procedure-related risk factors for bleeding after PTBD are still controversial. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to identify procedure-related risk factors of bleeding after PTBD. ⋯ Left-sided approach is a risk factor for hepatic arterial injuries after PTBD.

Interfacility transfer (IFT) in Asian communities is seldom discussed. We aimed to describe the characteristics of IFT in Taiwan and to explore the adequacy of care during transfer. ⋯ The patient care during IFT in Taiwan is inadequate currently and should warrant attention.

A case of acquired hemophilia A and bullous pemphigoid following SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination.
Acquired hemophilia is a rare disease resulting from autoantibodies against endogenous factor VIII (FVIII), which associates with bleeding and a high mortality rate. The pathophysiology is still unclear. Recent studies suggest genetic and environmental factors trigger the breakdown of immune tolerance. ⋯ We also discussed the rare finding of concomitant acquired hemophilia A and bullous pemphigoid. Bullous pemphigoid results from autoantibody against epithelial basement membrane zone of skin. In this article, we proposed possibility of SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine associated autoimmunity against FVIII and epithelial basement membrane zone.

This population-based study aimed to compare the accuracy of Rapid antigen detection (RAD) and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assays for diagnosing individuals infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) during the COVID-19 outbreak in Taipei, from May to June 2021. ⋯ Proactive community testing for SARS-CoV-2 infection using RAD tests could rapidly identify and quarantine the most infectious patients in the early phase of COVID-19 outbreak.

An outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant infection occurred in Pingtung, Taiwan, in June 2021. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the clinical characteristics of the Delta-variant SARS-CoV-2 infection and the treatment outcome of antiviral agents in patients from Pingtung County in Southern Taiwan. ⋯ We demonstrated the clinical characteristics of Delta-variant COVID-19 and treatment outcome of antiviral agents. The risk factors attributed to pneumonia were higher serum AST, ferritin, and LDH levels.
