To analyze the predictability of an automatic tube compensation (ATC) screening test compared with the conventional direct liberation test performed before continuous oxygen support for MV liberation. ⋯ This closed-circuit ATC screening test before ventilator liberation is a feasible and valuable method for screening PMV patients undergoing ventilator liberation in the pandemic era. Its predictability for a comparison with the open-circuit oxygen test requires further investigation.

Taiwan experienced a relatively low incidence of COVID-19 before 2022. However, from April 2022 to March 2023, the country was struck by a nationwide outbreak that occurred in three waves. Despite the considerable magnitude of the epidemic, the epidemiological characteristics of this outbreak have yet to be clearly understood. ⋯ During the three waves of COVID-19 epidemic, the numbers of cases and deaths gradually declined, while the vaccine coverage increased. It may be appropriate to consider easing restrictions and returning to normality. However, continued monitoring of the epidemiological situation and tracking the emergence of new variants are crucial to prevent the possibility of another epidemic.

Pediatric glomerulopathy after COVID-19 vaccination: A case series and review of the literature.
Cases of glomerulopathy after COVID-19 vaccination have been reported in the adult population, while only a few cases have been reported in children and adolescents. For better understanding of this association in pediatric population, we aimed to describe clinical course of patients with glomerulopathy within 60 days of COVID-19 vaccination who were under followed up in the pediatric nephrology department of National Taiwan University Children's Hospital. ⋯ This is the largest case series to date of pediatric glomerulopathy after COVID-19 vaccination. From our report, patients with either newly diagnosed or relapse of glomerulopathy after vaccination had good outcomes, and receiving vaccination to prevent COVID-19 infection or complications should be encouraged in pandemic era under close monitoring kidney manifestations.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Immunogenicity and safety of heterologous mRNA-1273/MVC-COV1901 vaccination versus homologous mRNA1273 vaccination: A randomized, double-blind controlled study.
MVC-COV1901 is a protein vaccine based on the same SARS-CoV-2 strain used in mRNA vaccine mRNA-1273. Data are lacking on immunogenicity and safety of MVC-COV1901 as heterologous boost for people already received one dose of mRNA-1273. ⋯ Our results show that heterologous boost with MVC-COV1901 yielded an inferior immunogenicity but significantly fewer adverse events, compared with homologous boost with mRNA-1273. In people experienced severe adverse events after prime dose of mRNA-1273, as well as in periods when the supply of mRNA-1273 is limited, MVC-COV1901 could serve as an acceptable alternative heterologous boost.
