Three-dimensional computer-assisted orthognathic surgery allows to simulate the space between the mandibular ramus segments, i.e. intersegmental gap, for the correction of facial asymmetry. The purposes of the study were to estimate the screws- and mandible bone-related changes from the early postoperative period to the period after the debonding and to measure the association between the intersegmental gap volume and the screws- and mandible bone-related changes. ⋯ This study contributes to the multidisciplinary-related literature by demonstrating that the bicortical positional screws-based fixation technique in maintaining the three-dimensional-simulated space between the mandibular ramus segments is a stable and clinically acceptable option for correction of facial asymmetry associated with malocclusion, regardless of intersegmental gap size.

Combined intravenous immunoglobulin and baricitinib treatment for severe COVID-19 with rhabdomyolysis: A case report.
Since December 2019, the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread rapidly around the world. The severity of COVID-19 ranges from asymptomatic carriers to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Accumulating evidence has shown that COVID-19 may be associated with multiple organ complications including cardiac injury, viral myositis and neurological deficits. ⋯ Immunomodulatory treatments with high dose intravenous immunoglobulin and baricitinib were prescribed with satisfactory biochemical, radiographic and clinical recovery. We found an interesting correlation between serum CK elevation and inflammatory biomarkers, which reflected clinical improvement. This case demonstrates that inflammatory biomarkers, cytokines, and CK level correlated with disease severity and treatment response, and combined use of intravenous immunoglobulin and baricitinib is a potential treatment in patients with severe COVID-19.

The diagnosis of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is complex, and the modality of treatment is surgery and targeted medication. Patients with CTEPH could have a poor prognosis if their diagnosis or treatment is delayed. The incidence of CTEPH and its clinical features are largely unknown in Taiwan, even among other Asian populations. In this study, we aimed to investigate the geodemographics of CTEPH in Taiwan and describe the practical management and treatment outcomes in patients with CTEPH. ⋯ To our knowledge, this is the first national cohort study that demonstrated the raw CTEPH incidence in Taiwan. It also showed the CTEPH incidence between male and female patients in the Asian population was different from the Caucasian population.

The aim of this study was to systematically review all COVID-19 publications to summarize the clinical features, assess comorbidities, prevalence, and disease outcomes. ⋯ Patients infected with COVID-19 coronavirus showed a wide range of clinical presentation with non-specific symptoms.
