Immunocyte profiling changes in patients received epidural versus intravenous analgesia after pancreatectomy: A randomized controlled trial.
Perioperative immunosuppressants, such as surgical stress and opioid use may downregulate anti-cancer immunocytes for patients undergoing pancreatectomy. Thoracic epidural analgesia (TEA) may attenuate these negative effects and provide better anti-cancer immunocyte profile change than intravenous analgesia using opioid. ⋯ TEA was neither associated with favorable anticancer immunity nor favorable oncological outcomes for patients undergoing pancreatectomy.

Patisiran, an RNAi therapeutic for hereditary transthyretin-mediated amyloidosis: Sub-analysis in Taiwanese patients from the APOLLO study.
To examine the efficacy and safety of patisiran, an RNA interference therapeutic, in patients from Taiwan with hereditary transthyretin-mediated (hATTR) amyloidosis with polyneuropathy. ⋯ This analysis suggests that patisiran is well tolerated and may provide a substantial clinical benefit for Taiwanese patients with hATTR amyloidosis with polyneuropathy.

A randomized, placebo-controlled study of givosiran in patients with acute hepatic porphyrias (ENVISION): Final (36-month) analysis of the Taiwan Cohort.
Acute hepatic porphyrias (AHP) are rare genetic disorders associated with acute neurovisceral attacks and chronic symptoms. This analysis was conducted to examine the long-term efficacy and safety of givosiran in Taiwanese participants in the ENVISION study (NCT03338816). ⋯ Long-term efficacy and safety results in the Taiwan cohort are consistent with those in the global cohort.

Comparing the effects of blended learning and traditional instruction on basic life support for laypersons: A randomized controlled trial.
Blended learning offers the advantages of both instructor-led and self-instruction methods in basic life support (BLS). Our study aims to compare the effects of blended learning with those of traditional instructor-led methods on the performance of laypersons taking BLS courses. ⋯ Blended learning with three rounds of hands-on practice may be considered an alternative teaching method.

The psychological and physiological effects of integrated cognitive-behavioral and biofeedback therapy on panic disorder: A randomized controlled trial.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and biofeedback therapy are commonly regarded as effective treatment modalities for panic disorder. The aim of this study was to establish a Taiwanese version of an integrated cognitive-behavioral and biofeedback therapy (ICB) and examine its effects on panic disorder using psychological and physiological indicators. ⋯ In the context of existing pharmacological treatments, the benefits of ICB for panic disorder may not be observable through psychological indicators. However, it can lead to enhancement of parasympathetic activity as evidenced by the physiological indicators.
