This study aims to explore the spatial characteristics of the alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) reference value in healthy Chinese adults, and its relationship to geographical location. ⋯ The AFP reference values show regional differences, and this difference should be considered in clinical practice.

Rates of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) use are lower in Hispanic compared to non-Hispanic white communities. Novel instructional methods that focus on population subgroups most likely to benefit must be explored. The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility, efficiency, and participant demographics of 10-minute educational intervention on bystander CPR and AED use delivered at a pre-match festival for Major League Soccer (MLS) fans. ⋯ Soccer matches may be a suitable setting for provision of CPR and AED training to Hispanics. This intervention gives insight into a novel way of providing health education to Hispanics that can be applied to other behaviors.

Little is known about the state of resuscitation services in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), including Nigeria, Africa's most populous country. We sought to assess the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) care in referral hospitals across Nigeria to better inform capacity-building initiatives. ⋯ In this first large-scale assessment of resuscitation care in Nigeria, we found progress in training centre development and supply availability, but a paucity of cardiac arrest response team systems. Our data indicate a need for improved capacity development, especially in documentation and continuous quality improvement, both of which are low-cost solutions.

Few studies have examined health behavior interventions for African American women who are uterine cancer survivors. Black-white differences in uterine cancer survival suggest that there are unmet needs among these survivors. ⋯ There is a need for a better understanding of uterine cancer survivorship among African American women. Additional evaluations of interventions for improving the quality of life and survival of African American uterine cancer survivors are needed.

Approximately 5.5 million individuals are diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease (AD) dementia, a number which includes those with mild cognitive impairment and asymptomatic individuals with biomarkers of AD. There is a higher incidence of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in African American populations as compared to White populations, even when controlling for sociodemographic factors. The existing body of ethnically/racially targeted research on MCI has been limited by few studies with the ability to generalize to African American communities. ⋯ Findings from this study provide formative data to develop targeted interventions for subsets of the African American community, including those with higher educational levels, those with TBI, and those with a history of thyroid disease. While it may not be possible to prevent MCI development, it is possible to modify lifestyle behaviors contributing to these health conditions, such as falls that are often experienced by older adults. Practitioners can increase awareness, knowledge, and resources relevant to clients.
