Mesenteric vascular thrombosis, typically of the superior mesenteric artery, is a frequent occurrence in patients with hypercoagulable conditions. Isolated involvement of the celiac artery is rare. ⋯ A delay in diagnosis is associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. We present a rare case of splenic infarction with celiac trunk thrombosis in a 54-year-old patient with underlying antiphospholipid (APLA) syndrome who presented with epigastric pain that was mistaken for symptoms of acid reflux.

Single parent adoption (SPA) is a relatively new construct worldwide and in India. The Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, has laid down criteria for adoption in general and SPA in particular, in conjunction with the Juvenile Justice Act (Care and Protection of Children), 2015. ⋯ For this, a search strategy was employed that included a thorough literature search from two databases (PubMed and Google Scholar) with relevant keywords related to the topic. The various legal issues pertaining to SPA in the current scenario, the psychological issues and challenges faced by single parents, the behavioral outcomes of adoptees who are adopted by single parents, and ways to deal with the various obstacles of SPA are discussed.

Depression and anxiety are common psychological issues among university students, yet many of them hesitate to seek professional help due to stigma. Unfortunately, university curricula often lack self-help strategies to manage these challenges and provide timely support to those in need. To address this gap, we introduced the Psychological Skills Lab (PSL) component in the undergraduate medical curriculum, which emphasizes experiential learning to promote self-determination and autonomy in health promotion. ⋯ PSL helps students develop skills, empathy, mindfulness, and self compassion through regular interactions. This innovative teaching approach raises mental health awareness and empowers students to assist others when required. Thus, by incorporating self-help measures into the curriculum, students are better equipped to manage their emotional well-being while supporting those around them.

We describe a patient who presented with scrotal swelling followed by non-healing and discharging scrotal sinuses, following local trauma and was initially suspected to have an infected scrotal hematoma. An evaluation revealed it to be scrotal tuberculosis. He also complained of upper abdominal pain and on transabdominal ultrasonography was detected to have a mass in the head of the pancreas. ⋯ Both lesions responded well to anti-tubercular therapy. This is an unusual case of two rare sites of extrapulmonary tuberculosis presenting simultaneously in the same individual. Care needs to be exercised while evaluating any non-healing ulcers or sinuses and mass lesions in countries endemic for tuberculosis as this disease can be a great masquerader.
