There are criteria that include many organ systems to predict the prognosis in acute pancreatitis (AP) patients. In this study, we aimed to show how the course of the disease changes according to the Balthazar classification in AP patients presenting with renal failure. ⋯ Early intensive care unit admission and close follow-up and early treatment in AP patients change the course of the disease. In our study, we showed that serum creatinine level is an important parameter in the course of AP and has a predictive value for the course of the disease.

Midline catheters have been proposed as alternatives to central venous catheters and peripherally inserted central catheters. Midline catheters reduce the incidence of overall needle stick injuries during hospitalization, have lower complication rates than central venous catheters or peripherally inserted central catheters, and provide potential cost benefits for hospitals. ⋯ For the safe use of midline catheters, accurate and delicate insertion techniques should be practiced. More case studies are warranted to verify the usefulness and convenience of various types of midline catheters for their universal use.

ME is an 84-year old man who presented with a 3-year history of storage urinary symptoms associated with strangury. He had an open radical prostatectomy and direct visual internal urethrotomy 10 years prior to presentation for early prostate cancer and partial urethral stricture, respectively. ⋯ A cystolithotomy was done, and the retrieved stone was cracked open, revealing a surgical blade. The patient had an uneventful recovery postoperatively.

The effect of rocuronium priming dose based on actual versus corrected body weight in modified rapid sequence intubation.
Rapid sequence intubation (RSI) is a technique that allows patients to be quickly intubated and have the airway secured. ⋯ This study suggests that the application of rocuronium priming and intubation dose according to CBW in RSII, especially during the pandemic, provided similar intubation conditions as the application according to ABW, while its shorter duration of action shows that it can be preferred, especially in short-term surgical cases.

In COVID-19 patients, besides changes in leucocyte count, morphological abnormalities of circulating blood cells have been reported. ⋯ COVID-19 infection leads to important changes in cell population data of leucocytes. The volumetric changes in lymphocytes and monocytes are related to the severity of the disease.
