The study aimed to determine vitamin D status and frequency of its determinants related to diet, clothing, lifestyle and exposure to sunlight among young healthy medical students living in Karachi, Pakistan. ⋯ Deficiency of vitamin D is common among healthy young adults particularly females which emphasize need to add vitamin D supplements in their routine diet.

To analyze the clinical values of modified injection of low-molecular-weight heparin in reducing subcutaneous bleeding and pain. ⋯ Modified low-molecular weight heparin injection can effectively reduce the incidence of bleeding and pain, which is beneficial to the compliance and quality of life of elder patients.

To explore the effectiveness of controlled blood pressure elevation and limited fluid resuscitation in treating patients with multiple injuries in combination with shock in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). ⋯ Controlled blood pressure elevation in combination with limited fluid resuscitation is more effective than conventional fluid resuscitation in the treatment of patients with multiple injuries and shock in ICU as it can shorten recovery time, improve microcirculation perfusion and prognosis, and reduce related complications and fatality rate.

To determine the effect of gum chewing on bowel function postoperatively in women after cesarean delivery under spinal anesthesia. ⋯ The results of the present study indicate that sugar free gum chewing in the post-operative period which is cesarean section under spinal anesthesia shortened the duration of the intestinal movement, the time of first flatulation, and discharge time.

To estimate the incidence of microvascular complications among subjects with type 2 diabetes at a tertiary care hospital. ⋯ A high incidence of microvascular complications is found in subjects with type 2 diabetes. Poor glycaemic control, longer duration of diabetes and hypertension was found to be associated with the occurrence of these complications.
