To study the relationship between the reliability and validity of VES-13 and the influencing factors of the vulnerable condition of patients with advanced castration-resistant prostate cancer, so as to provide a reference for the health management and nursing of elderly inpatients. ⋯ VES-13 scale had high level of reliability and operability, and was straight forward to understand and use; it can be used as an effective tool for the assessment of vulnerability in patients with advanced prostate cancer. The vulnerability of patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer showed significant correlation with economic status, education level, prostate-specific antigen level, multiple bone metastases, bone pain and other indicators. Nursing staff should pay close attention to the relevant factors of inpatients and give targeted advance intervention measures to facilitate rapid recovery of elderly inpatients.

To study the ability of aptamer-modified nano-gold rods and liquid carbon-targeted PLGA nanoparticles to target in vitro using compressed sensing reconstruction algorithm, and observe the phenomenon of mediating ultrasound / photoacoustic imaging. ⋯ The successfully prepared targeting nanoparticles have good targeting and specificity for breast cancer MCF-7 cells, and it has obvious effects on ultrasound / photoacoustic imaging, and has the potential to become a dual-mode ultrasound / photoacoustic targeted contrast agent. The various characteristics provide experimental basis for subsequent in vivo targeting experiments and are expected to become good target diagnostic molecular probes.

To determine the efficacy of usage of topical autologous platelet rich fibrin (PRF) in improving outcomes of myringoplasty regarding graft uptake and hearing improvement. ⋯ Topical use of Platelet-Rich Fibrin during myringoplasty results in improved graft uptake. Hence, resulting in much improved hearing, significant reduction in infection rates and decrease in perforation sizes.

The Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) transmitted to the humans through Aedes species of the mosquitoes. In December 2016, a severe outbreak reported from Pakistan. However, there is no vaccine or anti-viral treatment currently available so host immune response against CHIKV gained significant interest. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the mutations in CHIKV E2 region of currently circulating Pakistani strains & determine their potential immunogenicity in Pakistani population. ⋯ The evolution of E2 protein in Pakistani strains has increased its immunogenicity in comparison to ancestral s27 strain. The identification of most immunogenic and conserved epitopes with high population coverage has high potential to be used in vaccine development against these local strains.

To conduct an on line Flipped Class Room (FCR) to facilitate synchronous (in class activity) and asynchronous learning [Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)] and acquire feedback of the learning experience from medical students at Aga Khan University. ⋯ The innovative model of FCR through facilitation of synchronous and asynchronous learning empowered student's engagement and interactive learning. Students perceived this as a great learning experience which they enjoyed with positive reinforcement from feedback given by the facilitators. They suggested continuation of this model for further learning sessions in other modules of undergraduate medical education at Aga Khan University.
