The assessment of histopathological risk factors (HRFs) in retinoblastoma in upfront enucleated eyes is important in deciding treatment protocols. Limited data is available from the developing countries as very few studies were conducted on retinoblastoma. The study aims to report this data from Pakistan. ⋯ The presence of high risk histopathological factors in enucleated eyes diagnosed with retinoblastoma are known to have a profound impact on the risk stratification as well as decision of future treatment plan.

Maternal under nutrition and low birth weight babies are among the common tragedies of developing countries like Pakistan. Preeclampsia and its significant association with fetal growth restriction due to spiral arteries remodeling and trophoblastic invasion decreases nutritional supply to growing fetus added by maternal under nutrition. This study was designed to see the effects of lipid based nutritional supplements for pregnant and lactating women LNS-PLW on maternal and fetal outcome of pre-eclampsia. ⋯ The Prenatal supplementation of Lipid based nutritional supplement for pregnant and lactating women LNS-PLW can improve birth weight, gestational age, length and head circumference of babies of underweight preeclamptic women.

To investigate the application of tirofiban in patients with acute myocardial infarction complicated with diabetes and undergoing emergency interventional therapy. ⋯ In patients with STEMI complicated with diabetes who underwent PCI and found to have high thrombus burden in coronary artery, intracoronary bolus of tirofiban boasts superior therapeutic efficacy over intravenous bolus of tirofiban in significantly improving cardiac function, reducing myocardial cell damage, and improving renal function and myocardial inflammation of patients.

This study aimed to evaluate the etiology, outcomes and prognostic factors associated with status epilepticus (SE) admissions in Neurology Department of a tertiary care hospital. ⋯ Male gender, poor control of seizures, CNS infections, prolonged seizures, delayed hospital arrival and refractory/super-refractory status epilepticus were key determinants of mortality in our setting. Previous history of status epilepticus, and acute and symptomatic etiologies were associated with higher morbidity.

HIV/AIDS is mostly seen in people who inject recreational drugs (PWID). Adherence has to be optimum for its treatment to be effective. Compliance to HIV medication has been problematic in PWID making HIV control difficult. Many studies in the past have validated educational activities like rehabilitation programs beneficial in maintaining regularity in medication intake. This brought us to the question of looking at such programs and its effects on our population. This study was conducted to assess the impact of other perspectives of abstinence and adherence including family support and employment status on a person's willingness for treatment continuation and avoidance of drugs. ⋯ Family and spousal support and employment promote optimal ARV compliance and should be encouraged when starting ARVs. Enrollment in a long-term complementing educational program would further enhance ARV intake and abstinence.
