To investigate the clinical efficacy of norepinephrine combined with cimetidine in the treatment of neonatal upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage and its adverse reactions. ⋯ Norepinephrine combined with cimetidine in the treatment of neonatal upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage can shorten the recovery time of symptoms, improve efficacy and reduce stress reaction. It is safe, effective and worthy of use in clinical practice.

Pregnant women are the most susceptible group for Iodine deficiency disorder (IDD) whose neonate are at the risk of brain impairment, if they are iodine deficient in utero. The study was carried out to analyze the concerns and effects regarding iodized salt and IDD in women seeking antenatal care in Pakistan. ⋯ There is an immense need to address the present concerns of women seeking antenatal care by advocacy and health education on individual and at mass level regarding the use of iodized salt among women seeking antenatal care. Advocacy can be done by governmental initiatives, medical personnel and through mass media in all tertiary care hospitals of Pakistan.

Hepatitis-B and C is currently a major health problem all over the world including Pakistan. All beauty treatments including manicures are used by many people and can be a risk factor because of sharing of contaminated instruments. Proper sterilization needs to be achieved by an autoclave. Our study was conducted to know the awareness and safe practices of Hepatitis-B and C prevention and transmission by beauty salon workers in Karachi. ⋯ This study showed that overall awareness among workers of women beauty salon in Karachi about Hepatitis-B and C is inadequate with low vaccination rates. There is dire need to organize awareness programs with mass vaccination campaigns for safe practices and to curb viral transmission.

Pakistan has high neonatal mortality rate and antibiotic utilization data in hospitalized term neonates from Pakistan is lacking. The study aimed to determine the pattern of hospital antibiotic use in term neonates using World Health Organization (WHO) Access, Watch, and Reserve classification (AWaRe). ⋯ High antibiotic prescription rate particularly from Watch-group is demonstrated in this study. There is high need of antimicrobial stewardship program in neonatal units.

To evaluate the serum biochemical levels in celiac disease (CD) patients. ⋯ The serum iron was remarkably reduced in CD patients. A negative correlation was found between anti-HTTG IgA and serum iron, while a positive serum iron was correlated with hematocrit and MCV in CD patients.
