To compare the use of Electrosurgical bipolar vessel sealing LigaSure™ small jaw instrument (LSJI) with conventional suture ligation in total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH). ⋯ Our comparison of LSJI vs. conventional ligation in hysterectomy revealed a significant difference only in operative time, where surgeries involving conventional ligation were shorter. On the other hand, incision length was evaluated in our study which has not been addressed in previous studies. There is also a need for multi-center studies that include more patients and evaluate cost-effectiveness.

To establish and discuss the significance of a clinical risk factor scoring model in predicting central compartment lymph node metastasis (CLNM) (level VI) in patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). ⋯ The scoring model enables simplified, quantitative analysis of CLNM in PTC patients. The scoring model has clinical significance in that it provides a basis for the choice of operation, personalized postoperative treatment, and prognosis of PTC.

To evaluate the effect of tirofiban injection on vascular endothelial function, cardiac function, inflammatory cytokines and other indicators in patients with acute myocardial infarction after emergency PCI and its clinical significance. ⋯ Tirofiban injection after emergency PCI is a beneficial treatment regime for patients with STEMI. With such a treatment regime, cardiac function and vascular endothelial function of patients can be dramatically improved, coronary blood supply will be ameliorated, inflammatory cytokines can be reduced, and no significant increase can be seen in the incidence of adverse reactions.

This study aimed to validate Baveno-VI recommendations for variceal screening in cACLD in our region and proposed our own cutoff values. ⋯ Substantial number of VNT in cACLD patients are missed by following Baveno-VI recommendations and these needs to be revised on regional basis.

Cryptococcus neoformans is an opportunistic pathogen, mainly responsible for meningitis in immunodeficient individuals. We report a rare case of dessiminated cryptococcosis in a six years old boy, patient was being evaluated for lymphoma. In the present case the causative agent was Cryptococcus neoformans. ⋯ The cause of hospitalization of the patient was fever with abdominal pain. Blood and CSF culture revealed the presence of Cryptococcus neoformans which was further confirmed by urease test and corn meal tween agar (CMT). In the present case fungus was unusually isolated earlier from blood culture rather than cerebrospinal fluid.
