To determine the correlation between levels of stress with level of empathy in all five years of undergraduate medical students of a private medical college in Pakistan. ⋯ The study showed no statistically significant correlation between empathy and stress. Future research is needed to investigate other main factors for the decline in empathy among medical students.

To find possible association of R1939W and P1987R variants of OTOF gene with severe to profound NSSHL in cochlear implant subjects. ⋯ High percentage of parental consanguinity was observed among cochlear implant candidates. The OTOF variants R1939W and P1987R were found to have protective roles against NSSHL in study population.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common condition. With increasing lifespan and emphasis on quality of life worldwide, older women with POP may prefer surgical treatment, including colpocleisis. We reviewed the outcome of POP in a case series of colpocleisis. ⋯ Partial compared to total colpocleisis was associated with shorter operative time and less blood loss. Colpocleisis is a suitable surgical treatment for POP in elderly women who do not wish to preserve the vagina for sexual intercourse.

To examine the use of anti-cytokine treatment in critical COVID-19 patients and their association with the frequency of CMV cases, viral load level, and mortality in these patients. ⋯ Even though CMV reactivation was high in critical COVID-19 patients who received anti-cytokine treatment, decrease in mortality were observed with early diagnosis and effective treatment. Therefore, CMV infection should be considered in patients receiving immunosuppressive treatment.Clinical Trial Registration: HisarIH-101/NCT05419206.

To assess the understanding of the patients with common mental disorders, towards issues related to their mental health. ⋯ Stigma, both public and personal, was quite high, which caused patients to feel compelled to conceal their illness. There was also a general lack of knowledge with regard to mental disorders in our society. The general public opinion about mental health professionals was not favorable.
