Medical and health care traverse geographical boundaries in the form of "Medical Tourism" with patients travelling from low and middle-income countries to developed nations and vice versa as well. Affordable medical care is also attracting patients from developed nations to countries like India, Thailand, UAE and others with international accreditation playing a key role. This also yields economic benefits for the recipient countries. ⋯ For this, literature search was conducted using google, Bing, google scholar, PubMed, web of science to search engines and data bases. One hundred eighty articles, reports & publications were downloaded of which 25 non-English & duplicates, and 75 irrelevant records were excluded. Hence, 34 references of relevant English language articles, publications, reports and online resources were utilized for the review.

A case of adult ETV6-ASCL6 fusion gene positive chronic myeloproliferative tumor and literature review.
ETV6-ASCL6 fusion gene plays an important role in hematopoiesis and hematological malignancies, but it is rare in hematological diseases. This paper describes a case of etv6-ascl6 fusion gene positive patient who was successively diagnosed as myelofibrosis, eosinophilic leukemia, basophilic leukemia and secondary acute myeloid leukemia. The clinical manifestations and disease evolution have its unique characteristics.

Obturator hernia is a rare clinical condition, mainly affecting the elderly and frail patients. It is often challenging to diagnose, and carries a significant morbidity and mortality risk. We aim to highlight the importance of timely and adequate diagnosis followed by early intervention that can be done as open or laparoscopic. ⋯ We discuss the role of CT scanning in diagnosis, the necessity of prompt surgical management, and the possibility of open and laparoscopic approaches through a literature review. The choice between open and laparoscopic approaches should be individualized, considering the patient's clinical status and the potential risks and benefits of each technique. Further research comparing the long-term results of open versus laparoscopic repair in incarcerated obturator hernia is something to be explored in the efforts of achieving the highest standards of patient care and maximizing the chances for an optimal treatment outcome.

Current research aims to monitor the prevalence of Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) in healthcare facilities due to the development of resistance to antimicrobials. The study aimed to elucidate the interplay between antibiotic resistance and biofilm formation, two key factors contributing to virulence of bacteria. ⋯ This study concluded that A. baumannii isolated from the patients with urinary tract infections had resistance to routinely used antibiotics. The isolates have shown hemolysis pattern (α & γ) and tendency to make biofilms. Moreover, except for ceftriaxone which showed negative correlations, a positive correlation was observed between biofilm biomass and the resistance profile to the remaining three antibiotics.

Controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) and embryo culture may affect the development and maturation of oocytes obtained by assisted reproduction technologies (ART). This study used the concept of available oocytes rate (AOR) to evaluate the effect of COS and to identify factors that influence oocyte development and clinical pregnancy (CP). ⋯ The AOR is an important indicator of oocyte function and is correlated with clinical pregnancy outcomes of fresh cycles. The AOR could objectively predict HMG as a clinically related factor that affected the number and maturation of oocytes for insemination.
