The objective of the current review aimed to assess if patients with bipolar disorder (BD) have an increased risk of stroke. ⋯ Patients with bipolar disorder (BD) may have an increased risk of stroke in comparison to the general population. The results are limited by the retrospective nature of the data and high inter-study heterogeneity which demand caution in the interpretation of the outcomes. Self-care practices are integral part of heart failure (HF) management. Information-Motivation-Behavioral skills (IMB) model has shown promise in fostering better self-care behaviors, but its efficacy in management of HF patients remains underexplored. This retrospective study investigated the value of IMB model-based nursing intervention for improving self-care, hemodynamic indicators, and quality of life (QOL) of HF patients. ⋯ IMB model-based nursing intervention significantly improved self-care behavior, QOL, and hemodynamic parameters in HF patients. This mode of nursing care has a potential as a valuable strategy for enhancing HF management.

To assess the efficacy of muscle energy technique (MET) in combination with conventional physical therapy compared to conventional physical therapy alone following mesenchymal stem cell transplantation in knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients. ⋯ Both groups are effective for improving knee pain, and functional limitation in knee osteoarthritis patients. However, MET Group along with conventional therapy showed marked effects on improving knee pain, knee flexion ROM, and functional limitations after mesenchymal stem cell transplantation in knee osteoarthritis patients.

To analyze the efficacy of K-line in surgical planning of approach selection for ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) and outcomes assessment by Nurick grading and Modified Japanese Orthopaedic Association (mJOA) scores. ⋯ K-line is a useful radiological indicator in selecting anterior versus posterior approach for patients with cervical OPLL in terms of Nurick grading and mJOA scores.

Scattered white spots (SWS) seen in the duodenum during esophagogastroduodenoscopy are rare lesions. The histopathologic examination of SWS lesions reveals normal duodenal mucosa (ND), chronic nonspecific duodenitis, and intestinal lymphangiectasia (IL). The intestinal epithelium, through its barrier function, is responsible for tightly controlling antigen traffic from the intestinal lumen to the submucosa. Zonulin plays a crucial role in intestinal barrier function. In this study, we aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between zonulin, the most important marker of leaky gut syndrome, and SWS lesions associated with lymphatic stasis and inflammation in the duodenum. ⋯ Patients with identified SWS more frequently exhibit IL and gastric metaplasia. There is no relationship between SWS and serum zonulin levels.
