The pre-analytical phase, encompassing all preparatory steps leading to the analytical process, represents a critical stage prone to laboratory errors. An assessment of the occurrence and categories of laboratory errors, specifically within the pre-analytical phase of laboratory procedures, can guide in taking timely actions for rectifying errors responsible for damage and loss of samples. This study aimed to assess the frequency and types of pre-analytical errors within a clinical laboratory at the Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases over two years. ⋯ The overall percentage of sample rejections in the laboratory was 0.67%. This study provided valuable insights into various reasons, and causes that require improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of laboratory processes.

To investigate the effect of micro-implant anchorage combined with a clear aligner on the efficiency of mandibular molar distalization and the protection of anterior teeth anchorage, provide reference for clinical scheme design. ⋯ In the process of mandibular molar distalization assisted by micro-implant anchorage combined with a clear aligner, better protects the anchorage of the mandibular central incisor and improves the efficiency of the molar crown distalization.

This is a retrospective cohort analysis of diabetes and its associated factors from Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of 2020-2022 of Indus Hospital Health Network (IHHN), Korangi campus Karachi. ⋯ High blood pressure, obesity, increased creatinine, micro albuminurea, high LDL and Triglycerides were important risk factors for diabetes. This study reports a snap shot of the status of diabetes and associated risk-factors in the Pakistani population. This was the first time that a large data was extracted and analyzed from a healthcare institution in Pakistan, which would guide physicians and public health practitioners to take evidence-based decisions for prevention and management of diabetes.

As a common oral health concern, periodontitis has been a source of attention for the global health community because of its linkage with systemic and neurological diseases. The purpose of the present study is to reveal the mediating role of specific cytokines, neuropeptides, and pathogens in the association of chronic periodontitis and neural disorders. To find the related literature different search engines namely PMC, Science Direct, PubMed, Research Gate, and Google Scholar were explored for a study period of five months from October 2022 to February 2023. ⋯ Those neuronal pathologies mainly included Alzheimer's disease, psychosis, stress, anxiety, dementia, Alzheimer's, major depressive disorder, and diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which may otherwise remain subside or even control in the absence of chronic periodontitis and its mediators. Specifically, periodontitis related specific cytokines i.e. IL-6, IL-1, Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), C-reactive protein (CRP), and alpha1-antichymotrypsin, neuropeptides such as insulin-like growth factor-2 (IGF-2), neuropeptide Y, substance P, neurokinin A, calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP), and a polybacterial pathogenic consortium of porphyromonas gingivalis, tannerella forsythia, and treponema denticola, were involved in the mediation and exacerbation of the associated neuronal cognitive pathologies.

Nearly 80 million of the Pakistani population received two doses of the BBIBP-CorV vaccine, against SARS-CoV-2, and 2.6 million people received heterologous booster doses up to February 2022. Our objective was to measure the long-term change of antibody titers in persons vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 following two doses of BBIBP-CorV. ⋯ A heterologous booster dose with Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine following two doses of BBIBP results in increased total antibody titers, though neutralizing antibody titers may start to wane a few months after the booster dose.
