To investigate the clinical effects of HBV infection on patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). ⋯ Patients in the RA and SLE groups after HBV infection have an increased degree of inflammatory response in their organism, an altered normal state of immunoglobulin and T-lymphocyte subsets, and a loss of organism immune function, leading to an increase in disease activity.

To find out the role of triglyceride glucose index (TGI) and triglyceride HDL ratio (THR) as predictors of insulin resistance and control of glucose status in type two diabetes mellitus (T2DM). ⋯ TGI and THR have a strong association and predictive capability to identify insulin resistance and detect the development and progression of T2DM. Moreover, TGI can be more precisely used for prediction analysis as compared to THR.

Recent trends in medical education demand practicing physicians to be competent in playing multiple roles. Life-long learning skills underpinned by research & scholarly activity will enable them to play these roles adequately. Therefore, the introduction of structured training in research during early undergraduate years is pivotal. This would enable trainee physicians to develop essential skills; the institutions will grow in terms of visibility & ranking; the trainers and supervisors will be satisfied in terms of research productivity and, most importantly the patients will benefit in terms of improved clinical outcomes.

To investigate the value of early laboratory indicators combined with the pancreatitis activity scoring system in assessing the severity and prognosis of acute pancreatitis (AP). ⋯ Early elevation of PASS, IL-6, PCT and WBC in patients suffering from AP is of great significance in predicting SAP. PASS score combined with IL-6, PCT and WBC has important value in evaluating the severity and prognosis of AP.
