The study was aimed at evaluating the association between junk food consumption and BMI of adolescent girls along with the menstrual abnormalities and to compare it with controls. ⋯ The results suggested that junk food consumption affects menstrual cycle negatively however more studies are needed to confirm the association of BMI, consumption of salty snacks and frozen meat items with menstrual abnormalities.

Fabry disease (FD) is a relatively rare X-linked hereditary disease caused by mutations in the GLA gene that results in deficient α-galactosidase A (α-Gal A) enzyme activity. The disturbed catabolism of the neutral sphingolipids globotriaosylceramide (Gb3) leads to its progressive lysosomal accumulation throughout the body. Multiple organs can be affected. ⋯ Some possible reasons for this apparent discrepancy are discussed. ERT may be less effective in patients who have already developed fibrosis or irreversible organ damage. However, other confounding factors may be equally important.

The main objective of the study was to explore the factors to predict academic failure before the first major assessment. ⋯ Academic failure can be predicted early and salvaged.

To evaluate the comparative influence of NPT and standard surgical dressing administration on incidence risk for surgical site infections, complications, and hospital re-admission after hepatopancreatobiliary surgery. ⋯ This meta-analysis shows that NPT usage slightly reduces risk of hospital readmission as compared to standard surgical dressing. We did not observe any significant effect of NPT on superficial, deep surgical infections, seroma, and haematoma outcomes following hepatopancreatobiliary surgery. These findings may aid clinicians in stratifying risk and selecting treatment strategy in patients undergoing hepatopancreatobiliary surgery.

This review aimed to assess evidence on the safety of cholecystectomy in patients under antithrombotic therapy. ⋯ Current evidence from a limited number of studies indicates that the use of antithrombotic may be associated with an increased risk of bleeding-related complications in patients undergoing cholecystectomies. Antithrombotic use may also increase the risk of conversion to open surgery in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomies.
