Retinoblastoma is a malignant intraocular tumor and its treatment requires a multidisciplinary approach. Chemotherapy is an important modality in treatment of retinoblastoma. The purpose of this study was to assess the histopathological changes in retinoblastomas treated with chemotherapy along with correlation of comorbid conditions with high risk histopathological factors (HRF). ⋯ Histopathological evaluation of chemotherapy-treated eyes shows varying degrees of response to chemotherapy. Post enucleation histopathological evaluation of the globe plays an important role in assessing disease activity and guiding further treatment to prevent metastasis.

There is a cross-link of insulin and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) with each other's receptors. The present study was carried out to explore the relationship of Type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with the occurrence and development of breast cancer by analyzing the expression of IGF-1R and Ki-67, as well as the biological characteristics in breast cancer patients with and without diabetes mellitus. ⋯ T2DM may be one of the risk factors affecting the occurrence, development and prognosis of breast cancer, which may decrease the 5-year survival of breast cancer patients. Besides, high expressions of IGF-1R and Ki-67 may be the key factors for poor prognosis of breast cancer patients with diabetes mellitus.

The assessment of histopathological risk factors (HRFs) in retinoblastoma in upfront enucleated eyes is important in deciding treatment protocols. Limited data is available from the developing countries as very few studies were conducted on retinoblastoma. The study aims to report this data from Pakistan. ⋯ The presence of high risk histopathological factors in enucleated eyes diagnosed with retinoblastoma are known to have a profound impact on the risk stratification as well as decision of future treatment plan.

To determine the susceptibility pattern and frequency of isolation of multidrug, pre-extensively drug and extensively drug resistant TB in a tertiary care hospital in Karachi, Pakistan. ⋯ A considerable number of drug resistant tuberculosis cases were identified in the present study. It is essential to develop further strategies to reduce the spread of this disease.

To assess the effectiveness of Sofosbuvir (SOF) and Daclatasvir (DCV) in patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC), compensated cirrhosis (CC) and decompensated cirrhosis (DCLD) either treatment naïve or experienced. ⋯ SOF plus DCV with or without RBV is a highly effective treatment for chronic HCV and is still used in many centers of Pakistan. This regimen has excellent results for GT-3. The outcomes are mainly influenced by the presence or absence of cirrhosis.
