To investigate the correlation between monocyte to high-density lipoprotein ratio (MHR) and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). ⋯ Serum MHR is positively correlated with Gensini score in ACS patients after PCI, which can be used as an independent predictor for MACE in hospital.

To observe application values of intraoperative ultrasound combined with neuro electrophysiological detection in the spinal cord glioma surgery. ⋯ Intraoperative ultrasound combined with neuro-electrophysiological detection for spinal glioma has more adequate protection of nerve function, high clinical complete remission rate, more thorough tumor resection, and lower recurrence rate than traditional microsurgery, which is worthy of clinical application.

To detect ZIKV using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) among clinical samples tested negative for Dengue virus (DENV) by RT-PCR in Punjab, 2016. ⋯ At study time, no samples were positive for ZIKV. Strengthening laboratory capacity to confirm arboviruses for Punjab's laboratories is warranted. Trioplex RT-PCR has 100% sensitivity so there are nominal chances of false negative results. Establishing syndromic surveillance for Zika and conducting a sero-surveillance survey for Zika in areas with high human and Aedes mosquito density are recommended in Punjab.

At the end of 2019 a novel coronavirus was identified in Wuhan, China. The disease caused by the severe acute respiratory distress syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was designated COVID-19 (corona virus disease 2019) by the World Health Organization in early 2020. Up to 80% of patients with COVID-19 experience mild symptoms with severe or critical disease occurring in the remaining 20%. ⋯ The current estimated case fatality rate from COVID-19 is approximately 1%. Epidemiological studies have shown that advanced age, male gender, previous chronic lung disease, cardiovascular and kidney disease, obesity and diabetes are risk factors for the severity of disease course. In the current focused review, we present an overview of the acute cardiovascular complications of COVID-19, their detection and impact upon prognosis.

To analyze the management of severe necrotizing pancreatitis in a specialized center of a lower middle-income country, Pakistan using multiple outcome measures. ⋯ Survival outcomes with acute severe necrotizing pancreatitis are improving in a dedicated hepato-biliary unit internationally in lieu with a multidisciplinary team approach. Percutaneous and EUS guided drainage of pancreatic collections have turned out to be an important procedure to manage infected pancreatic necrosis that helps to avoid a morbid procedure in the form of necrosectomy.
