To analyse the frequency, co morbidities and outcome ofAcute Kidney Injury (AKI) in elderly patients. ⋯ AKI is frequent among elderly admitted patients, commonest co- morbidity in these patients is hypertension. Outcome of AKI in elderly patients is poor with death in 22% of our patients.

To study the morphological spectrum of endometrial changes with the thyroid hormone levels in infertile women. ⋯ This study shows that thyroid hormones may have role in early leukocytic infiltration into stroma, and a possibility of immune modulation by altered thyroid hormones in causing infertility.

To evaluate clinical presentation and surgical outcome in children with enteric perforation. ⋯ Enteric perforation in children presents usually with hemodynamic instability and sepsis due to prolong period of illness. Therefore, regardless of surgical procedure performed it is associated with high morbidity and mortality.

Milligan Morgan Hemorrhoidectomy is one of the most commonly performed surgeries. Post-operative pain is the major cause of morbidity in post hemorrhoidectomy patients. Metronidazole has an established role in relieving post hemorrhoidectomy pain. The objective was to evaluate the pain score by using topical and oral metronidazole in post Milligan Morgan hemorrhoidectomy patients. ⋯ These results showed that topical metronidazole significantly reduces pain in post hemorrhoidectomy patients as compared to oral metronidazole overall and even when data stratified among age, gender and type of hemorrhoids.

Cell Free mitochondrial DNA (CF mt-DNA) has emerged as a novel biomarker to investigate disease pathophysiology of different infections. The present study was designed to elucidate the association between CF mt-DNA, IL-6 and viral load in HIV, HBV and HCV infections and predict its role as a potential biomarker to assess the disease severity in viral infections. ⋯ Elevated CF mt-DNA indicates its role in severity of viral infections. Independence of CF mt-DNA expression from viral load and IL-6 in case of HIV and HCV suggests involvement of other inflammatory pathways regulating CF mt-DNA elevation.
