Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) or stroke, Spinal Cord injury can lead to neurological diseases resulting in major loss in motor function causing hemiplegia or tetraplegia. In 2019, according to The Global Burden of Diseases (GBD) CVA/Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of death and disability combined, globally. Its prevalence vary drastically among South Asian countries. The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) machine on neurologically impaired patients at the Physical Therapy department at IHHN, Karachi, Pakistan. ⋯ FES cycling is an effective treatment for patients with neurological impairments, as it resulted in improvement in both upper and lower limb muscle strength, along with mobility status.

To investigate the effect of flunarizine combined with ginkgo leaf extract and dipyridamole injection (GDI) on hemorheology of elderly patients with vertigo. ⋯ The combination of flunarizine and GDI in elderly patients with vertigo can effectively regulate hemodynamics of the patient, reduce the degree of vertigo, improve balance, and have a significant overall therapeutic effect without increasing the risk of adverse reactions.

There is growing evidence of prescribing sodium glucose co-transporters-2 inhibitor (SGLT-2) to patients with/at high risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease as first-line (instead of metformin). This is the first meta-analysis to compare SGLT-2 inhibitors regarding the same. We aimed to compare SGLT-2 inhibitors and metformin regarding heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, and ischemic stroke. ⋯ Sodium-glucose co-transporter inhibitors-2 as first-line therapy showed a lower heart failure and myocardial infarction compared to metformin. No significant difference was found between the two drugs regarding ischemic stroke. Further larger studies comparing the adverse event are needed.

Pregnant women and the general public are both directly impacted by cirrhosis which is a chronic liver disease. It is also widely known that women who have a history of injectable drug use and cirrhosis are more prone to experience unfavorable consequences that have a negative impact on the health of both the mother and the unborn child. Higher maternal Hepatitis-C Virus (HCV) in pregnancy viral load, length of labor, use of amniocentesis or fetal scalp monitoring and protracted membrane rupture are all the risk of perinatal transmission of HCV in newborns. ⋯ Pregnancy-related immune alterations have a significant impact on the course of HCV infection throughout the third trimester and provide favorable circumstances for the spread of the virus. The exacerbation of hepatic damage during pregnancy and the postpartum period is mostly responsible for HCV-specific cell-mediated immune responses. An extensive literature search done via electronic search engine including Cochrane library databases, PubMed, Google Scholar, Science Direct and HCV in pregnancy articles were included.
