Impact of Pharmacist-Led PDCA Cycle in Reducing Prescription Abandonment: An Action Research from China.
Taking medicine as prescribed in time plays an important role in the treatment of diseases. However, some prescriptions have not picked up in time for various reasons. To analyze the influencing factors in patients with prescription abandonment and the role of pharmacists in Plan-Do--Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, we conducted a study in our hospital of Hangzhou, China. ⋯ The implementation of pharmacist-led PDCA can effectively reduce the number, the proportion and the amount of prescription abandonment, Moreover, Pharmacists play an important role in improving the management quality of outpatient pharmacy, and PDCA is a feasible and effective management tool for reducing prescription abandonment.

Influence of Disease Acceptance on the Quality of Life of Patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis - Single Centre Study.
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic, progressive disease, often with multiple complications, with periods of exacerbation and remission. The onset of the disease usually affects people under 30 years of age. The disease impairs physical, psychological, and social functioning, leading to disability. Therefore, patients with AS face the challenge of adapting to life with the condition and deteriorating quality of life (QoL). ⋯ AIS in patients with AS condition correlated positively with their QoL in all domains. Both disease acceptance and quality of life are influenced by specific sociodemographic and disease-related data. Prevention of complications and the type of treatment for AS (primarily biological treatment) can be essential in improving patients' quality of life.

Patients' and Healthcare Professionals' Perspectives on Preoperative Informed Consent Procedure Obstacles and Potential Solutions, 2021: A Qualitative Study.
Informed consent discussions are individualized not only with regard to the patients' surgical condition and goals but also with their varying information needs, health literacy, and anxiety. Information is lacking regarding the views of patients and concerned healthcare professionals on the informed consent process. ⋯ Patients and healthcare professionals have identified avoidable barriers that need the attention of concerned health professionals, educators, and the healthcare delivery system.

Survey on the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Patients with Parkinson's Disease and Their Caregivers in Japan.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic changed the lives of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and their caregivers. This study aimed to investigate changes in patient behavior and PD symptoms and their effect on caregiver burden resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan. ⋯ Control measures during infectious disease epidemics should consider that patients' symptoms may worsen; therefore, patient and caregiver support is needed to reduce burden of care.

Dietary Behavior and Its Association with Nutrition Literacy and Dietary Attitude Among Breast Cancer Patients Treated with Chemotherapy: A Multicenter Survey of Hospitals in China.
Chemotherapy often negatively impacts the nutritional status of breast cancer patients, and healthy dietary behaviors are important for patient wellbeing. With the guidance of the "Knowledge, Attitude and Practice model" (KAP model), the objective of this survey was to determine the frequency with which patients engage in healthy dietary behaviors and to explore the association between healthy dietary behaviors and nutrition literacy and dietary attitudes. ⋯ There is an important need for targeted dietary and nutritional interventions designed and implemented by health professionals to improve dietary behaviors. Intervention design and content should take the patients' nutrition literacy and dietary attitudes into consideration. In particular, women who are older, overweight, unemployed, and postmenopausal and live in rural areas, exhibit fewer comorbidities, have a lower family income and education level, have not relapsed and are currently receiving endocrine therapy are in urgent need of diet-specific intervention.
