Asthma is the most common chronic disease in childhood. If untreated, asthma can lead to debilitating daily symptoms which affect quality of life, but more importantly can lead to fatal asthma attacks which unfortunately still occur globally. The most effective treatment strategy for controlling asthma is for the patient to follow a personalised asthma action plan (PAAP) which will invariably include regular use of an inhaled corticosteroid. To examine medication adherence in children with asthma, we collated recent evidence from systematic reviews in this area to address the following 5 key questions; What is adherence? Is there evidence that children are not adhering to preventer medication? Why is adherence poor and what are the barriers to adherence? Does good adherence improve outcomes in asthma? And lastly, how can treatment adherence be improved?

ReviewInterventions to Improve Endoscopic Screening Adherence of Cancer in High-Risk Populations: A Scoping Review.
Colorectal, and gastric cancers have the second, and fourth mortality rates worldwide, respectively. Endoscopic screening is a crucial diagnostic tool for colorectal, and gastric cancers. Effective interventions can improve adherence to endoscopic screening in high-risk populations, which is important for cancer prevention and mortality reduction. This study aimed to identify interventions that could improve adherence to endoscopic screening for cancer in high-risk populations. ⋯ All interventions involved were effective in increasing individual knowledge of cancer-related endoscopic screening, willingness to undergo screening, and screening behaviors. These findings provide a reference for designing endoscopy-related cancer screening interventions.

ReviewTaking a Newer, Faster, Intranasal Route: A Narrative Review of Transitioning to a Less-Invasive Rescue Treatment for Seizure Clusters.
In the US, 3 rescue treatment options are approved for patients with seizure clusters (ie, acute repetitive seizures), which are intermittent increases of seizure activity. This narrative PubMed review of these 3 treatments examines newer intranasal options that are well suited for adolescent and adult patients who may desire a transition from rectal treatment. Diazepam rectal gel is indicated for patients ≥2 years, diazepam nasal spray for those ≥6 years, and midazolam nasal spray for those ≥12 years. ⋯ Users may prefer nasal administration because it is noninvasive and effective, and provides social advantages, comfort, ease of use, and less variability compared with rectal gel. Nasal sprays are portable and convenient for use in the community (school, work, travel), and self-administration was reported in one study, with patients as young as 11 years old self-administering diazepam nasal spray. These newer, intranasal rescue treatments for seizure clusters provide an alternative to the rectal route.

Learned Helplessness and Associated Factors Among Patients with Lung Cancer.
Learned helplessness (LH) is the psychological state in which an individual experiences multiple failures and setbacks and experiences a sense of loss when facing the current situation. It is a significant burden for lung cancer patients that can impair quality of life and lead to physical, social, and psychological difficulties. Thus, this study aimed to determine the level of LH among patients with lung cancer and identify factors associated with LH. ⋯ The score of LH in patients with lung cancer was at a moderate level in this study. Illness perception, self-efficacy, and resignation coping mode have been found to impact LH among patients with lung cancer. Healthcare professionals should implement effective interventions, such as promoting self-efficacy, encouraging positive coping, and reducing illness perception, to alleviate LH.

The Patients' Presupposed Distrust to Doctors in China: An Explanatory Sequential Mixed Methods Study.
The aim of this study was to investigate the current status of patients' presupposed distrust, and to clarify the causes of high presupposed distrust. ⋯ The level of patients' presupposed distrust was high, which needs to be further decreased. Demographic and clinical variables (personal income level, educational level) are identified to be the major contributing factors. The main causes for the formation of the high patients' presupposed distrust are patients internal factors and social circumstance.
