Movement Through Chemotherapy Delay to Initiation Among Breast Cancer Patients: A Qualitative Analysis.
(Neo) adjuvant chemotherapy decreases the risk of recurrence and improves overall survival among breast cancer patients; however, delays in chemotherapy initiation are associated with adverse health outcomes. The causes of delay are complex and include interrelated social, economic, cultural, environmental, and health system factors. Project Start was a qualitative study designed to assess and identify the multilevel factors contributing to the barriers and facilitators of initiating chemotherapy. ⋯ Activating women to be engaged in the treatment process across multiple levels appeared to facilitate initiating chemotherapy. Multilevel interventions that engage the patient, family, community, and medical team may support the initiation of timely chemotherapy.

Medication Adherence, Complementary Medicine Usage and Progression of Diabetic Chronic Kidney Disease in Thais.
Non-adherence to medication is receiving more attention as a significant problem common to management of chronic diseases including diabetes and chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study was designed to assess the medication adherence and self-medication in a cohort of Thai patients with diabetic kidney disease, and its association with clinical outcomes. ⋯ Medication taking behavior was a frequently encountered problem in Thai diabetic CKD patients. Increased medication non-adherence was independently predicted by stages of increasing CKD severity, and it was associated with poorer hypertensive control and kidney outcome. Targeting interventions to improve medication adherence should be an important strategy to slow CKD progression among patients with diabetic CKD.

Self-Care in Patients with Non-Optimal Diabetes Management in Brazilian Rural Areas: A Mixed-Methods Study.
This study aims to assess self-care in patients with non-optimal diabetes management (HbA1c >7.0% for adults and >8.0 for those aged 60 or over) and the positive and negative experiences associated with it in the rural communities of a Brazilian municipality. ⋯ The self-care assessment revealed unsatisfactory self-care behaviors as well as high HbA1c levels among the study participants and highlighted the various difficulties they encounter. This indicates the need for more attentive health teams to monitor patients, especially regarding actions focused on the non-pharmacological elements of self-care, such as lifestyle changes, which were found to be the dimensions with the most unsatisfactory results.

Adherence to Antithrombotic Therapy for Patients Attending a Multidisciplinary Thrombosis Service in Canada - A Cross-Sectional Survey.
Poor medication adherence puts patients who require antithrombotic therapy at greater risk of complications. We started a multidisciplinary Adult Outpatient Thrombosis Service in 2017 in a Canadian health authority and were interested in the level of medication adherence in the population attending. ⋯ Self-reported adherence to antithrombotic therapy was high (88%) within a multidisciplinary Thrombosis Service. Patients with advanced education and prolong duration of antithrombotic therapy were more likely to have lower self-reported adherence to antithrombotic treatment.
