ReviewMindfulness-Based Interventions in Cancer Survivors: A Systematic Review of Participants' Adherence to Home Practice.
Although mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) have demonstrated efficacy for alleviating psychological distress in cancer survivors, little is known about the extent to which participants adhere to assigned home practice. The purpose of this systematic review was to summarize and appraise the literature on rates and correlates of adherence to mindfulness home practice among cancer survivors. ⋯ Adherence to mindfulness home practice among cancer survivors is suboptimal, and most of the correlates of adherence studied to date are non-modifiable. More research is warranted to scrutinize the role of home practice in mindfulness-based interventions, including assessment of modifiable factors influencing adherence to improve benefits for this population.

ReviewReal-Time Monitoring and Point-of-Care Testing: A Review of the Current Landscape of PrEP Adherence Monitoring.
Despite pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) being highly effective at preventing HIV, HIV infections among individuals prescribed PrEP continue to occur. The vast majority of these new infections occur among individuals with sub-optimal adherence. One factor that is likely to decrease HIV incidence among PrEP users is a real-time, objective measurement of adherence. Monitoring adherence to PrEP can identify those at risk of becoming lost to follow-up and therefore at greater risk of HIV infection, those in need of additional layers of support to overcome barriers to PrEP, and individuals who need enhanced adherence support. ⋯ A multitude of methods exist for monitoring and supporting adherence. Objective monitoring using DBS and urine will provide a more accurate picture of adherence compared to subjective and non-biomarker objective methods. Preliminary data show that detection of non-adherence using biomarkers, followed by augmented adherence support and counseling, is associated with improved adherence, although more research is needed. PrEP providers will need knowledge of and access to these various strategies, which will require investment and resource allocation from clinics and other PrEP care sites to provide these tools.

ReviewStrategies for Improving Inhalation Technique in Children: A Narrative Review.
Inhaled medicines are commonly utilized by children for various respiratory conditions and must be used effectively for the medication to reach the airways. Poor inhaler technique contributes to poorly controlled asthma with significant associated morbidity. Given the significant consequences of improper inhaler use in children, the goal of this review is to comprehensively describe existing and potential solutions to improve inhaler technique. ⋯ Within each setting, in-person and technology-based interventions have shown promise to improve technique. These solutions need to be more broadly adopted to deliver tailored education with support for provider training, team-based care, communication structures, and reimbursement. Such solutions hold the potential to improve inhaler use among children, with potential for decreasing morbidity and costs.

ReviewBetween Curing and Torturing: Burden of Adverse Reaction in Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis Therapy.
Drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) requires prolonged and complex therapy which is associated with several adverse drug reactions (ADR). The burden of ADR can affect the quality of life (QoL) of patients that consists of physical, mental, and social well-being, and influences the beliefs and behaviors of patient related to treatment. This article reviews the burden of ADR and its association with QoL and adherence. ⋯ In conclusion, burden of ADR generally tends to degrade QoL of patients and potentially influence the adherence. A comprehensive support from family, community, and healthcare provider is required to help patients in coping with the burden of ADR. Nevertheless, the regimen safety and efficacy improvement are highly needed.

ReviewPriorities and Preferences of People Living with Dementia or Cognitive Impairment - A Systematic Review.
Knowledge about the priorities and preferences of people living with dementia (PwD) might help to individualize treatment, care, and support, which could improve patient-related outcomes. This study aimed to summarize preferences of PwD or people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), considering all relevant aspects of health care and everyday life. ⋯ This systematic review provides essential insights into cognitively impaired patients' preferences, which are rarely considered in treatment, care, and support services. Further studies should evaluate whether considering preferences in treatment and care or daily living can improve patient-reported outcomes.
