Quality of Life Assessment and Pain Severity in Breast Cancer Patients Prior to Palliative Oncology Treatment in Indonesia: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Studies assessing quality of life (QOL) in palliative care settings are still scarce. We assessed the QOL score and pain severity in advanced breast cancer patients at the National Cancer Hospital in Indonesia and associations between QOL domains with QOL and pain scores. ⋯ Our study showed high QOL and low VAS scores in advanced breast cancer patients prior to palliative oncology treatment. Several QOL domains (emotional functioning, fatigue, pain, insomnia, and appetite loss) were associated with QOL and the KPS was associated with the pain score. Therefore, these specific QOL domains should be given priority in improving QOL in this patient group.

Development and Psychometric Testing of the Supportive Care Needs Scale for Patients with Tuberculosis (SCN-TB).
Patients affected by tuberculosis have diverse unmet supportive care needs (SCN) that may seriously affect their treatment adherence. Accurately assessing patients' SCN is important for providing efficient patient-centred care, but few instruments are suitable for use in clinical practice. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop an SCN scale for patients with tuberculosis (SCN-TB) and to evaluate its psychometrical properties. ⋯ The SCN-TB is a valid and reliable theory based tool for assessing the needs of patients with tuberculosis and can be applied in both clinical practice and research.

"Passing Out is a Serious Thing": Patient Expectations for Syncope Evaluation and Management.
Syncope is a complex symptom requiring thoughtful evaluation. The ACC/AHA/HRS published syncope management guidelines in 2017. Effective guideline implementation hinges on overcoming multilevel barriers, including providers' perceptions that patients prefer aggressive diagnostic testing when presenting to the emergency department (ED) with syncope, which conflicts with the 2017 Guideline on Syncope. To better understand this perceived barrier, we explored patient and family caregiver expectations and preferences when presenting to the ED with syncope. ⋯ Clinicians have cited patient preferences for aggressive diagnostic testing as a barrier to adhering to the 2017 Guideline on Syncope, which recommends against routine administration of imaging testing (eg, echocardiograms). Our results suggest that while participants preferred diagnostic testing as a means to achieve clarity and even a feeling of being cared for, other strategies, such as a patient-engaged approach to communication and shared decision-making, may address the spectrum of patient expectations when presenting to the ED with syncope while adhering to guideline recommendations.

Adherence to Adjuvant Tamoxifen in Mexican Young Women with Breast Cancer.
Breast cancer (BC) in young women is characterized by an unfavorable prognosis in hormone receptor-positive/HER2-negative tumors, which may be explained by low rates of tamoxifen adherence. In Mexico, up to 14% of all BC diagnoses occur in young women and no data on tamoxifen adherence has been reported. ⋯ In our study, high subjective and objective adherence rates to adjuvant tamoxifen were reported, although an important proportion of women reported high rates of adverse effects and not fully understanding the benefits of tamoxifen. Strategies to increase tamoxifen adherence may be even more important now that longer durations of treatment or further ovarian function suppression have become the standard of care in YWBC.

Treatment Satisfaction, Patient Preferences, and the Impact of Suboptimal Disease Control in a Large International Rheumatoid Arthritis Cohort: SENSE Study.
Patients' needs and perspectives are important determinants of treatment success in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Assessing patients' perspectives can help identify unmet needs and enhance the understanding of treatment benefits. ⋯ Suboptimal disease control negatively impacts treatment satisfaction, work ability, QoL, and HRU. Data collected on patient perspectives may inform shared decision-making and optimize treat-to-target strategies for improving patient outcomes in RA.
